If the weather turns to shit as much as the experts reckon, there will still be some clown that will show everyone how big his balls are by riding through the worst of it at 200kph etc.

Methinks I'll take the car to work tomorrow. We are supposed to get gusts up to 130kph. Might upset the scooter in that wind. I hope this turns out to be a fizzer after all the media buildup.

[Moan] Might be the calm before the storm but it's pretty bloody calm here right now.[/Moan]

Have to be track side, decision will be made then. I could flick you a txt, but I'd expect you to be there already.

Blackbird... I was the place to be last race round... 8 decided a low side would be fun (grip was apparently low at Point 4)... other marshals at the end of the day asked if I had a sign out reading "Free cuddles". Bastards

It's getting pretty windy up here right now so everything is tied down with the exception of the cats - let's hope the roof stays on as we're a bit exposed to an easterly. There's beauty in stormy weather though and I took the attached photo from our deck at dawn. It will look a whole world different at dawn tomorrow!

We had some freaky skies like that last night.
But hey you turkeys will live in that part of Nu Zulland, I bet we don't see much of that weather down here ?

I had a couple of rides planned for this weekend, like pick up a tag, then over to the Easter egg run at Tauranga. But it looks like I'll just be staying indoors and studying.

Made it to work. (which is a looooooong 15 min away...). So far all good, but wind seems to pick up a bit.

Might go over and have a snoop at the Taupo MotoTT trackday later. That one is all go so far and there is another one planned for tomorrow.

Nadroj has organised a ride up SH43 "The Forgotten World Highway" to Whangamomona for this morning. I wimped out and not unhappy that I did, 'cause five minutes before the scheduled departure it's pissing down.

SH43 can be fun, but in the wet it tends to be all fairly serious.

Did that yesterday (Friday) with the missus as pillion.....all day trip from Palmy..via Stratford; lunch at the pub (gurnard & chips $10 - yum) and went on to Taramanoo. First time over this. Nearly got decapitated by the extended mirror on a camper van on the twisties to the pub - female driver saw me and I saw her - so I kept in middle line on my lane - she must have suffered a bout of attention deficit disorder and drove over the centre line as she rounded the bend and never even knew she was on both sides of the road. Mirror stalk extended another 300mm or so and came close. We also met a logging truck on the gravel section - oh fuck - worst place too - he was descending a slight decline on a bend as we were ascending. Saw him coming so pulled up and stopped in the left "rut" - he sure looked panicked, slowed as he sprayed us in gravel and a cloud of dust that did't abate for a minute. He had no chance of stopping - guess he was doing 60+ and I guess that is normal for these guys. But I wonder if it should be if this is as advertised - a "highway".
Fuckin fabulously exhausting day. Home at 7:30pm and asleep on the couch by 8.

Hey Swarfie, that sounds like fun. Have you got a pic of the James you can put up.

What's the road like between Akaroa and Cooptown? I saw signs out today near Halswell warning of slips and shit out that way.

It's great ride isn't it? I don't recall seeing many trucks in there, just as we'll, there isn't much room.
