You should use genuine Honda. I use NSR250 master, cost $50 from memory. Like the levers, its taken a beating and keeps together. Im not positive but think you'll find the master cylinder is like the caliper and common to a bunch of Hondas.
Genuine Honda parts are not to badly priced (depending what you want) if you buy from these guys http://www.tsrworldwide.com/ complete front master cylinder $125 or rebuild kit for $25

I was wondering how a NX4 RS125 master cylinder (four pot single caliper) or an Aprilia RS125 (also four pot single caliper ) master would work on a NF4 brake (twin pot single caliper). They're both quite easy to get.

Anyone have experience with this?

No rush wasn't it..

First batch is due to 9 days, testing, fixing deciding if we will sell or give up on the idea.

Maybe an MX85/125 might be the best solution for the NF. 12.9mm piston is the size you want.


PS don't forget to drill your brake calliper bolts.

They don't look like calipher bolts.

I can't make out what is stamped into the head of those bolts, but I like to use cap screws for the application so I know they're hardened and up to the task.

I like to spell the word Caliper correctly, but sometimes I don't.

They should be shanked bolts and hardened.

I need another disc one day for my wet.

They are 8.8 grade bolts with no shank with the marking LG on them.

Probably worth getting some 12.9 shanked cap screws in there though, seeing as they are holding the caliper on.

I found a 1992 Honda RS125 workshop manual online (click here) and interestingly it had most torque settings except for the caliper bolts.

In real life applications, they will be 100% fine. 4.6's would again be fine.
However they look like crap, and you certainly shouldn't cheap out on the bolts after such a fine rim and disc.
Some Mitre10's now stock a really sick amount of random bits and bobs. including 10.9 flange head bolts. Go get some if you have no bike related ones.

Interesting enough...
The tensile strength (which in this case isn't really any good, as they are in Shear), for bolts are

4.6 = 240MPa
8.8 = 640MPa
10.9 = 900MPa

Yeah but you don't want the thread digging into the fork ally. Shear is the worst way to use a thread but strong bolts make it ok.

I've replaced the caliper bolts with 12.9 cap screws which works out better anyway as there is more meat on the head to drill for wiring.

I was out at ESE tonight with Tim, Tim, Rob and Cully. Some flux capacitors made it into my possession and we turned down the head to get a reasonable volume.
Slowly getting there, lots still to do.

Massive thanks to Brent for hustling us up for this, I'm super happy I went. It was my first time on full sized track and I had a blast. A very well run event, definitely going back for the next one. I can understand bucket riders not being keen to race Hampton (straight city) but Taupo track 2 is the bomb! Even with 19hp, my FXR was a blast to ride and with more riders around it'd be even better. The straights aren't too long to be boring and there are enough challenging corners to create some big dogfights.
