42nd Traverse. Could I do it on a trail bike? Does the bike have to be road legal?
Just thinking I would like to give it a go on my KDX. Have done it a few times on a Mountain Bike. Obviously I would need somebody to drop me off and pick me up.

I have the 42nd earmarked to do on my adventurised Rev3 when I'm up to riding it again. Just need to make some adjustments to make it a bit more water proof. The thing only has to look at water and it stops. Think there is a mod you do to the carb and air box to stop it gulping water. Will most likely be a two day ride as I'm liable to get a tad preoccupied exploring trails in there on a go anywhere trials bike - fun azzz though![]()
....wherezz that track go
Glad 42 Trav wasn't like that when I did itWell done you lot.
You have just convinced me that this will be a summer mission.
Don't be Scared
I've done it several times on my KLR by myself...no worries

Steve's right, the video was taken on side tracks and was meant to show Oscar the current conditions.
I recommend starting from the Tongariro end if it's been wet or your first time on the 42nd. I've riden solo in summer but wouldn't now as it's isolated and can get freezing cold. The Owhango end was in excellent condition at Anzac weekend - we didn't go right thru.
