The couple of these I went to last time were effective in reaching those who were inconvenienced at least.

With mom on megafone and actual protesters.

funny thats how i feel about many 'protests'.

Blaming the naysayers for your failure to achieve anything is pretty dumb too.

I was going to attend, then I remembered I don't give a fuck about the parking problems in Auckland and Wellington. Personally I never have trouble finding a parking spot in Tauranga when I need one.

[QUOTE=Akzle;1130781838]thank fuck. someone to piss and moan and not achieve anything, on my behalf.

Your behalf? I don't think MAG was set up to support northland beneficiaries who don't actually ride!

I didnt want that kind of mentality speaking for me either.
Some of my best friends ride Hondas.

    Seriously they do.

    Ok some of them do.

Actually I don't know any Honda riders.

Car/Motorcycle parking spaces are a local authority issue, nothing to do with ACC levies or vehicle rego.
This forum is a place to debate/discuss ideas/news. You can disagree with something, its called rational discussion.

It would be a much better idea to organise a civilised meeting with appropriate local council officials. Have a plan showing which spaces/areas/footpaths would be suitable as bike only places, outline the benefits to them and local businesses and you might get somewhere.
A big protest inconveniencing the general public is just going to have a lot of angry ratepayers phoning the council on Monday to hate on bikers....

    Good for you!

Getting OUT of Tauranga, on the other hand, is a bastard of a job. Talk about weird traffic systems...

Are you aware of the more recent MAG UK 'events'?

    A flavour:

Rather than accept the judgement and face a potential compensation claim. MAG (UK) Ltd has transferred all assets to The Motorcycle Action Group Ltd, in an attempt to place those assets beyond the reach of the claimants. Still MAG maintains it is happy with the morality of its position.

Yeh a couple of friends I keep contact with in the UK, kept me 'informed' on this... It's a 'heads up' to MAG(NZ) to not follow the same path. Sadly though, reality is, like myself (which I freely admit) most people dont want to get into the requirements of time, effort and lack of appreciation that comes with running an organisation. So inevitably it leaves these positions open to those who have a need to 'be seen' who frequently in reality have fragile ego's that cannot stand being challenged. I think the MAG(UK) scenario depicts this eloquently.
The other reality is (Kiwibiker a perfect example) the members are often at loggerheads over the way to approach ANY issue, revert to name calling etc, have bugger all direction and is nigh on impossible to get them off their arses to DO something.

My Gawd, its just like the real world (Govt) = National Organisation head office, Members = the plebeian masses who need 'tellling' whats best for them, by those who 'know'.....

A certain amount of deja-vu for me. Do you remember when in about 1993/4 the BMF was close to implosion, with uncivil war between factions? I was a MAG member too, and recall the glee of a county rep waving a MAG document around which suggested that MAG was best placed to take over.

However, as a BMF Rep too, I knew exactly what the background was so could highlight the fallacies.

Sadly, I doubt many local Groups understood the facts, only the from on high version

    NAILED IT!

ps...If ANY of you MAG fuckers purposely blocked the public from parking in CHCH while "representing me" as a motorcyclists...I wouldn't hesitate to "assist" un-blocking said parks! -(Cos its a dumb idea! and a shit arse thing to do to others, especially the public!...and if thats the BEST idea MAG can come up with!...maybe its best that they just shut the fuck up when it comes to "representing motorcyclists")
