I have evolved as a KB member. Now nothing I say should be taken seriously.
The next bike I buy will be a one owner job. Reason being, nearly all bikes that have been dropped, were done so by the previous owner, never the current one.![]()

Does this seem a good buy?

Fantastic machine. Can't see myself owning one though. I'd get the same amount of enjoyment out of a modern I4.
I mean I can understand why people buy ferraris mustangs etc -- they go faster than the average shitbox. But what does a 916 have on a ZX10 or R1 (asides from baller status)?
The performance isn't the main reason I'm buying it, its just a fantastic looking bike that sounds just as good. When I test rode a 1098s a week ago it put a massive smile on my face that returned every time I thought of the bike and the 1198 is pretty much just an updated version of that.
None of the Jap 1000cc bikes do that for me and they all feel very similar.
There were a few tidy 916s for ~$7k a couple years ago. That might've been the lowest they'll ever go.
The 1198S is a significantly different bike though. A shit-tonne faster than a 916. Probably not faster for anyone than a new Jappa (or a near new Jappa for 15) but when they're all just unnecessary objects that happen to make you feel real good then they start to make sense. Some people prefer v-twins, 5 years ago the closest 2 cylinder competitor would've been the Buell 1125? Or Aprilia RSVR but the V4 made that obsolete overnight. Correct me if I've forgotten something.
