I would go for the 88 xr250/200? personally, but each too their own. Not sure if that cr would be right for you either from what you have posted.![]()

For a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.Keep an open mind, just dont let your brains fall out.
Yeah, it looks like it has been looked after alright. And I think they are good bikes.
I missed out on a 1988 xr600 last night that was a real good deal, and that bummed me right out, cos I really want another.

Righto I messaged him. It'll be a good starter bike. I can get a bigger, better one later.
If you want to ride in the bush and have no interest in full mx buy the first xr if it checks out ok. Might get it for 1200
The cr if you want some express pace and some mx tracks.
I have evolved as a KB member. Now nothing I say should be taken seriously.
I started on a XR200, outgrew it pretty fast. 250 should be a bit better. It would tractor up anything though.
A 2t 2fiddly mx bike will be quite startling for a N00b and not much fun in tight stuff unless you can ride already.
Get a softer trail bike, KDX are great but not that common. XR's ect, fuck yeah. 2t's are more hilarious than 4t's, unless you go modern 450 & poo your pants.
An old school trail bike will take you on great adventures & teach great skills.
Manopausal.
If you want a XR200 twin shock 1979 I'm selling mine.
Pretty original, dead reliable, nothing exciting, but you'll be able to ride it and sell it for about the same when you upgrade.
I've used it at Woodhill about 5 times in the last 10 years, sits in the garage the rest of the time. It's a Honda so it will go forever.
Had to upgrade as I was having difficulty keeping up with my son otherwise I'd keep.

Don't touch anything Chinese, you'll hate it, break it, and be lucky to get back 20% of what you paid.
that XR250 you are looking at looks suss to me. It looks like an XR200 engine has been transplanted into it.

90% of all Harleys built are still on the road... The other 10% made it back home...
Ducati... Makeing riders into mechaincs since 1964...
KDx is good and if you're ok on a bike a 250 is good too. I think a 125 when you 85 kg is too flightly and you're always having o fang it.. you don't have to as much on a 250.
Just geta bike a go for it. Inspect all the suspension ponts fo excess play and try to budget for a piston at least.
And lastly, never ride alone. long walks to carparks are quite tedious.
