Stuck at Te Anau - broken clutch on Honda TA

I was not sure whre to put this, but our options are Quickly running out, so here we go.

We are on a christmas hollisay trip and our cluch cable broke on the Von Road. AA got us to Te Anau, but no workshop is open today. I need something for a 2008 Transalp or at lest one of those universal / fix it one whith a bolt that clamps the cable? The cable came clean off the bolt on the leaver side.

Anyone got a spare around that could get here via currier or otherwise?

the cable has a little "knob" at the end that sits in the clutch leaver. the "knob" is a cylinder with the cable going in at mid height from the side. the cable broke right behind that bolt. that means that the cable is only 5mm shorter and might szill be used, and I have seen these bolts as spare parts with a hole for the clutch cable and a screw going in from the top to trap it. otherwise it would need to be the whole thing, witch the "channel" as well, since the clutch side has a diffrent knob crimped on.

jury rig pull cable for clutch. ?..
came back once from cold kiwi with broken accelerator cable....
not best ride...but covered few hundred clicks..

Will keep an eye on this thread, If I have some free time in the next couple of days I may just wander over, tis only an hour away.
But if your the brave sort you could ride it to gore with no clutch.

you'd be surprised how far you can get without a clutch if you can just get going.rode my zx10r over 50km home from work through auckland traffic the other day after my clutch cable snapped in the exact same spot. as for trying to fix what you've got you could try finding someone who could drill out the old lead lump.poke the cable back through then soldier or melt the lump back onto the cable.may get you another days riding to somewhere with parts or a better fix up

It's Te-anau dude, not much happening there on the holidays unless you are a tourist in the gift shop.

trouble with riding without clutch is that we are 2 up and are carrying 60kg of gear. we had a boatride book in Milford Sound already so I just handed over another $150 for a darn bus ride ...

Any way you could attach a spring loaded set of vice grips (if you can beg some to borrow off a local) to the end of cable attach them to the bars and use to get you going.

From a standing start, put it in gear with the engine switched off & start the engine, shifting without the clutch shouldn't be difficult at all. I'm not entirely sure how you are stranded, it would only slow me down by a couple of minutes while I contemplated my options.
