We had some good showers today and a bit of gusty wind, nothing worrying though.

Checked Metservice rain radar for the northeast of the south island. Looked all clear. Is this for wind?

Some good winds down here today, I think you timed it right heading north.

Final update from the road - 13km to Picton. We added French Pass today, just for good measure. Were able to leave our baggage at the DOC campground in Momorangi Bay. Very nice to shed 65kg off the bike

Oh, and the Molesworth was a blast. I feel much more comfortable on gravel now and the weather was gorgeous!

Thanks to everyone involved at keeping us mooving - would not have been such an amazing holiday without you!

Did you like camping there? I met the 'new' owners a while back (seemed really nice) but have never talked to anyone who has actaully stayed there.
Place looked primo/pumping when I shot past on new years eve

Looking at somewhere to crash myself when I head north, so might check this out perhaps?

The site has been recently redone by DOC - so it is all still nice and shiny. $15 pp / night beats the holiday parks for sure, and it is in a realy nice location just around the corner from Picton.

    Awesome stuff.
Thanks for the updates, and I am glad you could enjoy the rest of your trip. We are very privileged to live in such a wonderful place and next time we may be able to meet up for that drink, lemonade for me of course.

It is a primo spot right next to the water and not far at all from Picton. The one in Picton isn't bad either and is closer to the pub

Aussie Bay is another cool spot that is not to far out of dodge but the Kenepuru site is the one I'd recommend if you've got the time/weather is nice. Got a kitchen too (flash as au!)

Just looked it up and I never realized it was all owned by DoC, noice. The people I mentioned are the managers then.
Good decision making skills either way and cheers for the updates

Don't get confused - it's NOT owned by DoC, it's owned by NZ's taxpayers. DoC merely administer publicly owned land.
