I dont really care. Would be handy if Police could charge off footage but then I guess you open the door to fake footage.

If they can't even go onto a property to recover a stolen car or iPad that has a GPS locator pointing them right to it then there is no hope for any of that jive turkey

In the heat of the moment. Gear won't hold you back. You'll be able to walk it off easier though.
If someone gets hold of you while you're wearing your helmet, you're f*&ked - it's like having a big lever attached to your neck.

Even genuine footage is too open to interpretation. Sometimes it seems clear what's happened until you see the footage from another camera that tells a completely different story.

Actually thinking on this - I *555'd a driver a couple of weeks ago:

Was late at night, going up SHW1 to Silverdale - driver was all over the lane and I assumed they were pissed - I called *555, and was asked to follow them - fortunately they were going the same way I was.

They got pulled over at the Red Beach intersection by 2 cops - they asked for my statement - I gave it.

    Turns out they were:

1: On a Learners (no supervisor in the car)
2: Texting on their cell phone (which explains why they couldn't stay in their lane)
3: to quote the officer 'she's in a bit of an emotional state, looks like she just had a fight with her partner'

Human nature is that you engage more if you hold the phone. You see it all the time in offices. People natter away about crap on speaker but pick up the phone to write details down.
I prefer a paperless office. So I use a headset and type the info I need to keep. Still need to fight the urge to pick up the handset when things get detailed.

It one of those things you just can't contract out of. You will always give more of your attention to what you are touching.

I have hands free for mobile in car and on the bike. Not because it's law but because the paying attention is easier. I also tell people I am driving / riding and to text me details.

I have used a phone without hands free before the changes. I just don't see how you can pay full attention and not drop the phone. And what do you do with your phone if things go tits all of a sudden?

Have someone threaten you with a gun while you're on the phone and see which you give more attention to.

It's the same in a car. The problem is the lack of respect for what can be a deadly weapon. Keep this in mind and you don't have a problem.

BTW: I have never felt the urge to pick up the phone when it's on speaker other than to keep things private. I'm regularly in meetings where someone has been dialed in on speaker phone and have never felt the need there either.

Learn to drive with one hand. It's not that hard. Especially with an automatic.

See above and forget the conversation. Don't feel pressure from the person on the other end that's left hanging to return to the conversation too early (this also applies to conversations with you passenger). Been there, done that - and not because I was on the phone.

Did you learn that at an Advanced Driving School?

It's not an advanced skill. Turning a steering wheel doesn't need to be a two-handed operation. I seldom have two hands on the wheel at any one time.

I could do it before but I really practiced it after meeting a one-armed man in Europe that didn't have a choice.

Yeah. Nah. Don't really spend enough time in a car to be worth it.
Much happier not answering the phone at all than trying to overcome instinct.

I know. It's not for experienced expert drivers but I sometimes use a handy free service from Vodafone. Text drive on to 756.
Stops texts arriving. When you are ready to get texts again text drive off to the same number. Not sure but I think it forward calls to voicemail on first try ( advises users you are driving if it is urgent they can call back to be forwarded to you).

Not very hairy chested biker I know. I also know less than a third of my kms are in a car.
