Side mirrors are quite expensive to replace, arent they?
Quite Obviously where you come from everybody are well behaved and great people. Which of course we are, Waikatoian born and breed.
Butt! you have not been on a bike for very long or in many different places, because i'd have to say that the hundreds nae 1000;s of other riders I do know here in Dorkland and country wide have almost to a man/woman, experienced bloody minded car drivers closing the gap on them while they're going about their business lane splitting calmly and quietly.
having said that, come to Dorkland , get on the mobile car park of a morning and witness all the dumb fuck motorcyclists splitting traffic that IS moving at 60-80K's ph at speed and getting stroppy with car drivers who don't even know they're there because they are moving so damn fast.
Soon one of these dumb fucks is going to get killed and the Police are going to put a stop to letting most of us sensibly lane split without making a fuss.
Every day above ground is a good day!:

Perhaps we leave Auckland problems to those that live there. (provincial .. not National issues)

They can handle them ... otherwise they wouldn't live there ... right .. ??

Good idea possibly even give them a separate TV channel or at least at 6pm,why they think that anyone else in this country gives a fuck about how much a house costs up there/how long it takes em to get to work or any other of the problems they seem to have by living there is news worthy is beyond me.

He he .. the breakfast show on TV1 however does give me quite a laugh ... when they tell them (us too) how long it will take (them) to get to work.

It takes ME a 5 minute walk to work. And JAFFA's like to boast how smart and well planned their lives are ...

Or the annual south island stories how it snowed. And no one planned for it.

    Some stories never change.

Lol, every year some one has a bleat about sheep losses, someone else bangs on about icy streets causing car crashes and shock of all shocks the power goes out.

Every year I think to myself: sort more dry feed, get some chains or snow tires for winter and buy a generator.

Or, move to akl and complain about 4° and a ten minute wait for latte.

    You pick your poison.

Ive split on the southern mway for about 7 years now. Never have indicators on, if someone is looking in the mirror, they'll probably see my headlight. I find most drivers shuffle to the right of their lane, allowing me through on the left.

As for cops, any cop in a car will never catch you (the traffic's heavy, that's why youre splitting). Only a bike cop would catch you. And I very rarely see any cops at all on the southern. Non issue IMHO.

I saw a GSX-R600 rider on Friday morning showing me how 'not' to filter as they followed me from Mountain view road onto the Western Springs on-ramp and into town.

Send me a PM if you read here, and Ill give you a quick lesson on how not to do it without rev-bombng every car "in your way", and stick below 120kmph whilst "filtering" just to catch up again as I slow down for the next off-ramp. Might save your life/not give riders a bad image.

We will never get the publics support on anything bike related when a handful ride like dicks.

After the new BP advertisment on the TV (the one that features a Motorcycle/Rabbit road trip) ... how could we possibly get a bad name ... ??

Then we may as well just give up trying and enjoy ourselves. No sector of society is immune to having a handful of dicks as members no matter how you slice it.

Correct. I was just pointing out the obvious. Nobody remembers the average behaviour just the 5%ers.
Personally the price of rego doesn't worry me its the paying it for every bike that does. I need clone myself to get good value.

Agreed. I get good value for money as my bike is my primary transport and I only own one.

The answer to the cost inequity is extremely simple. Take the entire ACC budget from income tax take (both personal and business).
