Actually, I had a beer with him on the night he released the book at the bike shop I was then working in.

Pete, Rainey had a year racing 250 GP bikes for Kenny Roberts in 1984
He then went back to the US for the next 3 or so years.

Which is a far cry from a 500, as is an H1R. All of the names I listed honed their craft and made their names on big four strokes.

Aahhhhh...so racing an old two stroke dirtbike counts eh? Well that's it then...they all were two stroke experts well before they became famous racing big four strokes! Dork.

    Pete a H1R is a factory 500 GP bike.
Tis what Ginger used to race.

Depending on the year they looked like one of these.

Well to save me the time (seeing as you know everything and have read the book), tell me how many times he raced his H1R Then tell me how many races he raced in on big four strokes before he went to the 500's?

    And an H1R was what...80hp?

Dork.. it was a current 2-stroke dirt bike, & racing dirt bikes sure does count.. ask Kenny Roberts..
& a TZ is - what kind of race bike? Not a Castrol 6hr production bike, is it?

So yeah.. they really did have plenty of 2-stroke race rides up before going to 500 G.Ps..

Schwantz was racing years before GSX-Rs came out - too..
If anyone hasn't, I reckon they're the lucky ones. It's better written than the Britten book, but I thought it was still shit.

Read the bloody book, you'll enjoy it.. ( you might even learn something)..

H1R was good enough for Ginger to get 2nd in the 500 World Championships & clock 173mph down Conrod Straight at Bathurst..

So a dirt bike is a pukka gp bike? And a couple of rides on an old 80hp H1R complete with drum brakes got him ready for an RGB500? Ok...you can win the Croz argument then. How 'bout the others?

And just so ya know, I've actually raced a *proper* 250GP bike, and no...that wouldn't count for sweet fuck all when going to a 500-4. But hey...you're the expert!

Dude, a Moto Guzzi V8 did 180 mph back in the day. So fucking what? And I know how good Ginger Malloy is, I've raced against him.

Croz won a TT on a 500, but he'd got the Bathurst lap record on a KR 750 1st..

& yeah, he'd won a more'n a few races on the big Kawasaki triples too..
