Have a look around. You can probably find more bad news in there, but you'll have to wade through a bunch of good news to find it.

And I don't think you can call it a major fall when the improvement in life expectancy in the top dozen countries is at least an order of magnitude greater than the variation in improvement between them. I'd say "proper context" would be considering the couple of days separating them as of little statistical significance contributing fuck all to the overall quality of life the original survey covered.

If you're hell bent on hyper-focusing on our "rank" amongst the worlds elite living standards as defined by improved life expectancy then take comfort from the fact that for the last half decade we've improved more than our cohorts. Who gets the pat on the back for that?
    This is what you posted.

"The report said New Zealand's life expectancy at birth increased by 8.7 years since 1980, years spent at school increased by almost 12 months and the gross national income per capita increased by 59 per cent between 1980 and 2014.

Life expectancy is 81.8 years, Kiwis expect to spend about 19 years in education and the gross income per person is $48,400 (US$32,689).

"New Zealand's human development index is above the average for countries in the very high human development group and above the average for countries in the OECD."
As for the who should get credit for improvements.
Likely the people that put in place the actual improvements in healthcare. But don't worry only in Right wing spin do they occur immediately. Otherwise its the predecessors fault. right? and they were only tiding up the mess left by others ....ad nausea

Yes. I assumed you wanted references for http://ourworldindata.org/ which are posted at the bottom of every page. As is normal with any credible commentary.

It didn't occur to me that you'd actually be asking for references for http://report.hdr.undp.org/ But here, fill yer boots:
    http://hdr.undp.org/sites/default/fi...ical_annex.pdf

    Point to the spin.

And what on earth leads you to believe I'd blame improvements in the production of anything whatsoever on anyone other than those producing them? The only contribution political entities can usually make to improvements is to stay out of the fucking way while others get on with the job.

Spin Shane Warne was an amateur third time what you posted.

What exactly is incorrect about the numbers?

Hint: just feeling that they don't quite sound like they match your preconceptions doesn't constitute incorrect.

Nothing is incorrect about the numbers. Numbers are numbers, its (as I have said for 2 pages now) they need to be taken into the correct context to have meaning.
I provided the context that showed the number point to a slipping position in developed world standings compared to years ago
This conversation is spinning right round

It's classic glass half fucked twatwaffle. Since you are a 'half empty' you'll be better off in the stupid worlders thread, since ocean and myself etc are 'half full', we should carry on being cheerful right here.

Me, I'm real cheerful I figured that benefits of positive perception years ago

No presently I think Ocean is half Cut..............
As I replied to your post a bit back, that what you had posted was what this thread was about was a reason to be cheerful, friends good health, boat loads of depraved sex. not party political broadcasts from Sarcahi and Sarchi on behalf of the National party.
I not sure if I can post on the stupid world thread as Mashy is still not talking to me..........

And yet the numbers you admit there's nothing wrong with stand alone as proof of improvement.

"The report said New Zealand's life expectancy at birth increased by 8.7 years since 1980, years spent at school increased by almost 12 months and the gross national income per capita increased by 59 per cent between 1980 and 2014.

To point out, ad nausium that some countries have done better in some areas is a pretty transparent attempt to spin good news as bad. The only reason I can see anyone might do that is in an attempt to rationalise a claim that there's nothing to be cheerful about purely to deny the "right wing" any ability to claim responsibility for it.

I wonder if that could be the reason you're having trouble with repeating yourself...

Not even. Couple of glasses of savi.

And that "National Party" broadcast came to you from possibly the most socialist organisation on the planet: teh UN, via comrade Helen Clarke.

If there's any spin to be found among data from that lot it'll be nothing the Nat's will be pleased to see.

pretty sure the UN did not ring up Stuff and say do you want to run a story...........
you are confusing the sourse of the information with who ran the story.

what you posted as I have said a bloody lot of times I have no issue with the data just the manner in which it is being spun.

Which has nothing to do with the validity of the data.
    No I'm not.
The fact that the numbers are quoted by stuff doesn't automatically change them from true to "spun".

Good to agree that neither of us have issues with the report showing real numerical reasons to be cheerful.

"Reasons to be cheerful"...just spent 5 1/2 hours at Oamaru hospital and made it out alive no doubt the same as plenty of small towns in NZ but fuck me the service is shit, arrived there with an obviously broken thumb no biggie but bloody sore, had the X-ray but no cunt it seemed could read em so they called someone in...possibly from New York as it took fucking hours for him to get there..at one stage they told me to piss off and come back later when hopefully someone had looked at the X-rays so went to the pub had a pint then went back to be told what everyone knew anyway.Missed my true calling it seems as i knew the thing was broken at 4.30 this afternoon. Will add that a forest the size of Russia had to be felled for the filling in of paperwork it seemed, crazy world.
Be the person your dog thinks you are...
