I shall be travelling to and from the South Island on a weekly basis. Generally I'll be flying down South on a Friday and coming back again on Monday morning.

Free. Ride around the barrier arm to get inside. You do not need to get a parking ticket.

Sounds dodgy. Might come back with something that no amount of dobey dust will wash out of the gruds...

    Auckland airport domestic terminal parking

Can bikes get away with parking in a corner overnight and not pay?

Main thing is I get to ride the bike. I've parked the car in those carparks and noticed bikes parked in the triangular spaces at the ends of the angle park rows and thought, "That's for me!" So Wednesday, around the barrier I go and take advantage of Auckland Airport's free M/C parking.

Rode to AKL Airport this morning, rode around barrier arm and straight up the ramp on to the roof, parked in a striped off space at the end of a row right above the stairs which go down to the payment machines and the pedestrian crossing. Piece of the proverbial.

We'll see how it is tomorrow evening when I fly back in and go looking for my bike.

    To be continued ....

Flew in tonight, hopped on the bike and rode out.

One tip. I parked in carpark B, closest to the domestic terminal, up the on the roof. Coming into the carpark, the left hand lane takes you up to the roof and has a shorter barrier arm, the right hand lane has a longer barrier arm and takes you into the ground, undercover level.

Another tip. Leaving, don't go to the exit at the back right hand corner, these have longer barrier arms and I had to ride out close behind a leaving car. There's also is a manned booth at this exit. I think it's better to ride to the exit in the middle of the back fence of the car park as these have shorter barriers and they are easier to ride around. Saw them from the road after I'd left, and thought, "Should have done that."

Yeah, I would have been probably close to the airport by then, on the SW m/way from the Pah Road on ramp or even on the link road out to the airport.

Unless it was some other good looking guy on a Blue Boulevard M50.

Actually heard a bit of a rhythmic thump from the front wheel just before getting home last night, checked and there's a bulge on the front tire about 75 mm across x 50 mm, maybe 10 mm high. So a new tire being fitted in the weekend. The ride to the airport and the free parking wasn't so cheap after all.
