OK, this is the last of three items I wanted to post for those who had not already read them.

Previously I had noted that the hero of this story received a posthumous FIM Gold Medal. That struck me as a bit underwhelming. Since then though I see he was also awarded Italy's highest honour for bravery by a civilian. That's better.
