Basically what he said - but I had to ask the practical question....
“- He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.”

an update- out of hospital and home. Stitches out of the stump and wound basically healed. Puncture wound in my arm festering a bit but ok, fractured vertabrae a bit sore but ok. Pedometer is telling me i am back to 2000 + steps a day, 8000 to go. First physio on Wednesday.

bike is well and truly fucked, Protecta seems to be doing their thing ok though they want me to pay the excess, the other drivers insurance should be paying I would have thought. State is paying up for gear tonight.

I want to get a prosthetic now, just need the stump to lose its sensitivity. Learning to walk is going to be interesting, cant wait, i have nearly arsed off the crutches a few times...a leg might be interesting

What I have heard from other threads is that you pay the excess now and once the insurance agencies have got it sorted yours will refund you. Never had to claim myself though so I don't know.

Hell give you a leg now, you'll be running in a week. Might have acquired a few new bumps and bruises too though! You go as hard or slow as you feel the need to, but remember, most of the hairy arsed bikers out here have felt for you and are now in what can we do to assist, not, do it for you, you in the next little while mode.
You be careful out there you hear.

What charges, if any, is the driver of the car that cleaned you up facing?

or are they trying to say you were at fault?

Cops are trying to decide between agrivated careless driving causing injury - up to 3 years clink, $10k fine and 1 yr disqual, or
dangerous driving causing injury - up to 5 years clink, $20k fine and 2 years disqual
probably wont get clink, possibly reasonable fine, i might get some of that in reparation.
cops are dragging it out but have said that there is no doubt regarding fault and driver admitted fault under caution on the side of the road.

Good to hear. At least you won't have some sort of bullshit legal fight on your hands on top of all the other new stuff you are about to tackle...

All the best with your recovery.

Late to the thread (again). Saw where you posted about this somewhere else.

Not good news at all. Growing up in Ohope, Marty was a legend, surfing, skiing and all. It sounds like you have a similar kind of attitude.

Best of luck with the rehab.
