I'm quite partial to a wine of distinction. Some people also speak of a Triumph whine but I've never heard it.

I know that was tongue in check

The original triumph threes had more of a Howl esp when coming on to the pipe.
Best sound ever ESP with a 3-1. (other than a V4 two stroke coming on to pipe.)
The road versions had a muted version of the same with the ray gun silencers or the triumph mufflers

I have though I'd call it more of a whistle.

Oh those Triumphs sound great !!!!
And yes I can vouch for the V4 2T, being a former owner of an RZ500 many moons ago, they do sound great

Doohans screamer engine is probably the best I've heard, but the NSR500V twin was awesome too. Entirely different league to my 1050 Triumph.
Don't you look at my accountant.

The up about 89 even fire motor was even better sounding. The screamer sounds just like the YZR and RGV (or a TZ750 and RG500 roadbike for that matter) of the time as it had the same two up two down firing order.

Meanwhile.....I appreciate this is a good restoration, I never remember these bikes being particularly good in their day and wouldn't think they'd ever be collectable....
A little expensive in my opinion.....

    Wow.
He's restored something that was a boring, slow POS when it was brand new.
Now he's gone on to restore a bike almost as bad - a CB400N!!!!

    Why bother?!
