Too many hurting body parts (mine not the bikes) so am looking at a more comfy adv tourer. At the price I'm looking for I will be losing some cash on it (as you do) but someone will get a great bike. I wont be too disappointed if it doesn't sell although the interest in it is.....well.... lets just say there's lots.
....wherezz that track go
Just the same as your KTM, except visualize 20-kg heavier and 20 hp less lol.... just get the Africa Twin already
The DR is a pretty dam good budget all rounder once you've sorted the aftermarket seat, tank, exhaust, carb, cargo rack....
There's a couple cheap 2016 KTm 690 floating about....

hmmm there's a particularly nice 1050 going for bout the same price as a new 690...... once you include the few extra bits n pieces ya need for it: new seat, extra fuel capacity, screen, exhaust mod, rear luggage rack, tool tube & various protection bitz for brake/gear pedals, clutch slave cylinder and upgraded tank supports![]()

A DR is a kitset bike, you buy the base bike then get the parts to make it a good bike and put it together.
The seat is only a placeholder for a usable seat that you will need to buy. (or at least take the stock seat to an upholsterer)
If you are not short then you will need to lower the pegs and raise the handlebars.
The 13l tank will be a nuisance on longer rides, get an Acerbis 20l tank to make life easier by allowing up to 400km per tankful.
The suspension will benefit greatly from aftermarket improvements of some kind.
For a tourer/adv bike it will most likely require luggage additions - I have side racks and a rear rack bought from moto-racks.com which I use with Wolfman saddlebags and a very large roll-top duffel bag.
Lots of option stuff too - fatbars, heated grips, modded exhaust, carby improvements, etc.
I added a Scott Oiler to my DR and with good lubrication the chain should last quite a long time.
Keep yer hand out of yer pocket...
The new MT07 powered 700 twin Tenere's are on there way next year....
Earlyer than later hopefuly...
