There is no system that automatically censors posts/pm/rep. You agreed to rules when signing up, and to abide by them. Doesn't mean you can't break them. There are rules around speeding, you're not allowed to, but it doesn't stop you. There are punishments/responses to breaking laws or the rules of KB.
Equally, with a few clicks I can remove someone from the forum (actually in several ways). Doesn't mean I'm going to do it (spammers are different, they shouldn't be allowed to live). It has always been very clear, that the site owner lets us have this forum to share knowledge and communicate but it is not a democracy. I choose to be a moderator to help out, but I could equally choose not to, or not to participate.
On a more personal note, I much prefer riding my bike (which I was doing yesterday) than helping a bunch of grown men talk to each other without insulting their families/parentage/IQ. For more than a few, it escapes them that KB has a fantastic wealth of knowledge and skill and more than a decade of questions and answers to help those that need it. The silent majority comes for answers and tries to avoid the shit slinging and dribble.
The tricky part for moderators and administrators is balancing a bit of fun with some useful information.
