Their motors are bits of fucking shit. For no other reason than having sat a few years, two CBR400RR motors have Chernobyled and fucked themselves. FUCKING TWO! Fucken weak bits of shit.

Late 80's early 90's kawasakis were worse. They use a ball and spring. I struck a ZZR1100 which had intermittent oil light problems. Pulled the sump and relief valve and a segment of the ball was missing. Lowest point in the lube system so water collects....

Assuming you liked your BSAs wet sumped and smokey or better still possibly hydraulic
BSA following the Harry Ferguson engineering model of correct pump and ancillary placement, Thus of course made sure they buried this component deep inside the engine. Rather than some silly easily replaced bolt component on like a Ford Tractor.
That said, at least Ferguson used a triumph style plunger pump that would easily lift a 1000KG plus (albeit slowly) on a tractor that weighed about 500KG so at least it didn't leak.
