Drive in the car to Dunedin yesterday, back to Christchurch this evening. Two observations:
1. Audi drivers are the biggest cunts on the road. I've been forming this theory for some time and it has been verified over the past two days 700 plus kms. Cunts. No respect to anyone else on the road.
2. Passing lanes - there are many well positioned decent length, open road speed passing lanes between Christchurch and Dunedin. And many drivers happy to waver between 80-95 when nowhere near a passing lane. Hit a passing lane the fuckers decide 100 is actually fine suddenly.
What-the-actual-fuck. Some of these knobs actively tried racing 'passing' vehicles to the point the merge at the end of the passing lane became a dangerous 120 kmph battle of their wits. Back to single lanes and the fools drop back to a inconsistent 80-95 ...
Haha, this isn't scientific proof of point number 1, but it confirms your assertion. The vast majority of Drivecam activations in our trucks are for dodgy overtakes by other vehicles, such as squeezing past at end of passing lanes, overtaking dangerously etc. The common trend is the offenders are mostly driving late model European cars, with Audi indeed featuring top of the list. Maybe they hand out a knob jockey license with each Q7? A long way back in second place is the BMW X5.
Point 2 is not new, but mighty annoying all the same.
As a trucker it never ceases to amaze me that everybody wants to be in front of me, yet when we come to a slight bend in the road lots of tintop pilots feel the need to stand on the brakes for no valid reason. And no I don't tailgate![]()
Best to look for a good steady trucker and stay with him at a comfortable distance - you get better economy and their average speed will get you there just as quickly.
You will soon understand what caspernz is talking about at the end of the passing lanes!
All these Claytons overtakers trying to speed and go slow at the same time get piled up with nowhere to go but the space that you occupy - fucking wankers!![]()
...the fuckwits that line up behind you when you are towing a trailer at 90kph, so close that nobody behind them has the opportunity to pass, then when you get to a passing lane and button off even more so they can all go past they slow down and are still right on your arse at the merging point then do some fucking idiot type of overtake down the highway a bit further on...beats me...
hey look im with ya's I used to line haul the upper south is and what people dont get is if they dont want to come to a stall at the top of a hill then a truck needs a run up... get out of the fucking way or else
but ya know what when driving trucks in Oz... never had an issue.. go figer
cheers DD
(Definately Dodgy)
Them thar hills.
my first big truck drive, the first stop taught me how long some heavy loaded vehicles take to stop.
instructor “you can start to apply brakes now and start to change down”
me “I have been applying the brakes”
instructor turns to me and looks directly at me “your coming up to a stop”
me standing on the brakes, I mean standing with both feet, hauling on the steering wheel, sweat pouring off me, as I see cars go past 10 feet in front and I am still moving at what seems like a great rate of knots.
truck brakes locked stops bang on the stop lines perfect.
i drop back to the seat. Exhausted.
instructor “well carry on”
i made it, but have respect for trucks and their drivers.
that instructor was a hard bastard, but I need to be pushed
since driven semi and auto transmission trucks so much difference.
READ AND UDESTAND
......I had a TK with a 30 ft trailer and a D4 with a tipping deck and a big Hiab behind the cab, old but sturdy stuff and they were always working hard on some big hills...coming down a lot of the twisty, local hills was always a toss up between idiocy and bravado because you couldn't touch the brakes at the top 'cos there wouldn't be any air or pads left by the bottom...glad them days are way in the past...
