If you want to go to a performing arts college to learn how to sing opera and you are a conservative, you will be shit out of luck, only socialists and communists are accepted.
There's multiple ways to deal with this.

Let's go with Linguistically to start with: Where does the term 'Liberal' (that being the Americanism for a staunch Left-wing voter) come from? One the etymologies is that people who earned degrees in the Liberal Arts had a noticeable political bent, to the point that it was so noticeable that Liberal became a synonym for that political position.

Then let's bring up psychologically: People in the Arts world by nature have to be high in openness and creativity - they want to try new things and to be a good artist, you have to try new things, to push boundaries etc. Wanna take a guess as to which 2 personality traits most accurately predict a left-wing political stance?

Then we can go with Anecdotally: Think of any TV Show that features heavily either the Performance Arts or Creative Arts - I can bet you won't find any MAGA hat wearing staunch conservatives - but you WILL find people who are only to happy to openly espouse their far-left viewpoints. Whether it be something like Skin Wars, Ru Pauls Drag Race or something like The Big Flower Fight.

Then we can look at things like: Coachella, Burning Man and other similar festivals - How many of the performers do you think will be Trump voters? And then ask how many Hammer and Sickle or Socialist Fist icons you spot - I'll give you a hint, one vastly outweighs the other/

Then we can look at the likes of what commentary prominent Performance Artists say: The majority of Hollywood actors regularly espouse left-wing and far-left ideals, JK Rowling, Lilly Allen, Rage against the Machine etc. etc.

Then we can go Personally: The performance Artist crowd, I used to (and to a limited extent) still do roll in these circles - although the overwhelming air of constant politics does make it harder these days - Many of my dearest friends are in that milieu and I can assure you, all of them have Politics that are very Left.

    Back to your original critique:

    If someone:

    - Wears a T-Shirt that supports certain Political ideologies
    - Works in an industry that has a definitive political sympathy
    - Makes major life choices based on that Political Ideology
    - Allows their child to take part in world-wide activism based on that Political Ideology and
    - Allows their child to accept assistance and services from other people who are also promoting that same Political Ideology

You are asserting that because I do not know every single microcosm of their life, that my judgement (based on the weight of evidence of their actions) is false.

Of course, you are allowed to hold that opinion - I do not begrudge you for it, however if it walks like a Duck, Flies like a Duck, Swims like a Duck and Quacks like a Duck - the preponderance of evidence suggests... You've got a Duck.

If you are going to quote somebody do them the honour of quoting them correctly. It would also be polite to credit the source.

Having said that, it's a rare breed would quote an arsehole like McCarthy and expect to be taken seriously.

I wasn't quoting him specifically, since the phrase has entered common parlance....

However, interesting you raised McCarthy - Widely ridiculed and had many of his claims dismissed as delusions and conspiracy.....

Until the Iron Curtain fell and proved many of his Claims to be true.

Which brings us back to you and I - you scoff at me in the same way that you scoff at McCarthy and for the same reason(s).

Time proved McCarthy righteous, which should make you wonder about what that means for You and I.

DL needs to just let me go.
I'm a kinda do, or do not guy. With him being the only person (ever) on my ignore list - I won't be bothering to click on the "view post" link on any of his verbal diarrhea. It will be just the same old defend his position at all costs to a VERY flimsy premise.
His posts only look cohesive and conclusive to a party of one - DL himself.

I only reply when you reference me.

So tell me, who needs to let whom go?

The ignore list is a great thing. I used to have just two people on it: Cassina and Jason. They have since been joined by a few kindred spirits.

As a result life is subsequently relatively tranquil.

He still at it isn't he?
The only thing I query about the forum software itself, is why notify you when a person on your ignore list quotes you?

So you are aware that someone (even if they are on your ignore list) has quoted what you said in a public forum.

Well, if you keep referencing me, I'll keep quoting you.

If you want me to stop, it's simple - uphold your end of the implied bargain of ignoring someone - don't reference me or invoke me.

Yep, I get it, would be nice to have a tick box option when ignoring someone to unhook notifications from them too, just to keep the inbox cleaner - know this is outside moderator/admin control.

While all and sundry were watching the goings-on at Portland, Trump got his wall. It's around the White House. I don't think Mexico will pay for this one either.

That pic might be from the last time his wall fell over. The clips showing the current one were taken in obvious hurricane conditions.

Since the stable genius has managed to build just three miles of new wall in over three years, any that falls over subtracting from that laughably insignificant total is significant. He really can't do anything right but we shouldn't be surprised, he bankrupted casinos, he's special.
