And let's face it, we could do with some of that up here in the far north!

The bigger problem here tho is our health system should be able to cope with the few that need it
Instead of blaming vaxxers/anti-vaxxers we should be blaming MP's/Govt. It's their fault the health system can't handle a small increase in patients, it should never be running at almost 100% load
    Small increase? Watch this space.

    To add to this:

I don't mind paying taxes (Okay, I mind, but I grumble and get on with it).

In an ideal situation, I possibly wouldn't mind paying a *little* bit more.

What I do mind, however, is when my Taxes are badly spent. Things like personal vanity projects or schemes with a political angle - Diversity and Inclusions rackets or John Key's change the Flag farce.

Foreign Aid is another area where I think that my Taxes are being spent as if the Politicians earned it - now I'm not saying scrap all foreign Aid - only that I'd like to see some major changes, if private individuals want to contribute to Charity, that's fine, I don't want the Government doing it on my behalf, with resources that are meant to be for Kiwis.

Other things like when the Parliament slide that cost the Tax payer more than my House - those are things that when I pay my tax, I get annoyed at. I don't complain about when they use my Taxes to build a new hospital or hire more nurses etc.

Things that if they were paid for Privately or by individuals, would be either vastly cheaper (because of limited funds, more realistic budgets or not so many snouts in the Trough) or non-existent.

The second thing that I mind is that there is no gratitude shown towards those who pay Tax (and actually pay Tax, that is, Net-contributors) - all we ever here is 'The Rich need to pay their fair share' - which considering 20% of the top income earners pay something like 80% of Income tax is a bit Rich (Pun fully intended).

There's this constant clamour from the Left that it's these Evil Rich People and if we could just help ourselves to a little bit more of their wealth, everything would be perfect.

I can't stand that, both from a purely Economics PoV but also from a Philosophical PoV.

All of our infrastructure from health to roads and water has been neglected thanks to the three year lolly scramble thought process.

Yep so system functions at 100% design ideals never match real world needs.

Well National and Labour have had plenty of turns, I guess we’ll find out when Act or the Greens win an election that they probably can’t fix it either.

It’s not an overnight sort of a thing.

    Apply now.....

Well although comments in the article could be right that it’s not often used it’s just the wrong message to take it away.... and in the rising tidal wave of crime from meth epidemic and housing crisis/poverty how can you properly judge the effect of new tool.

We shouldn't rule that one out.

Quite so, when Tacinda's lot failed to do anything after the 1st NZ lock-up.
Plenty of time to prepare for delta, but they fucked about and got caught out (again) with their utter incompetence.

That's a bit harsh when so far they've done possibly one of the the best jobs in the world. Sadly the percentage of stupid selfish bastards in the community is proving to be quite high. Anti vaxxers, and like the Stratford cases: only one of the six vaccinated, sick but don't get tested, don't scan, don't take any notice when it's reported that the virus is detected in the waste water for nearly two weeks. Do nothing until one gets so sick they need to be hospitalised. Fuckem.

If English had have won which you should recall was the most likely result bar Winston, we would not have had the time, we would have been knee deep in money generating tourists April 2020. Then fucked like the rest of the world but with worse hospitals as both national and labour before them neglected them.

But yes I agree they should have used the time to expand the hospital system. Easy to say I guess but there is only so much money and I certainly dont have any experience with how to do that stuff. I bet it takes ages.
