Yeah, yeah, covid is just the flu, a dude jumped out of a plane without a parachute and died of covid on impact. Equally stupid, the "clot shot" gang assigning every death they read about as vaccine based. The dead people stacked into refrigerated containers in rats nest like New York in the early days suggest, that somewhere in the middle lies balance. Did the left overdo the nanny state antics? Absofuckinglutely. Did the right do their usual don't give a fuck about an age demographic that was passed it's useful taxpayer status? Again, Absofuckinglutely.
It was a big deal for me to actually take the first 2 shots as up to then, I had avoided all vaccines, even the one all 14 year olds got at school back in the 80's. It was unfortunately the 3 pre existing conditions I had that made my mind up, based on the best information I could find at the time, and a bit of family pressure to be honest. I personally, noticed bugger all difference, however, shot one really messed with my wife's respiratory system. Neither of us have had subsequent shots as the covid virus seemed to evolve into a weaker beast. Each person had to make their own personal decisions on it. It did not have to be one based on fucking politics like BOTH sides made it.
What is happening in American politics (and associated propaganda "news" networks) is fucking unbelievable, I have no idea how criminal trump got his super power of people believing he has their best interests at heart and is a stand up guy. Even he acknowledged it in 2016 by saying he could shoot someone in central park and people would still vote for him. The left have not changed fuck all, they still want to use everyone else's money to fix their vision of what ails the World, but the right under trump? My god man, now they embrace russia! The man has corrupted the GOP's soul at the deepest levels. The joke is he calls any republican that does not agree with him a rino, when it is in fact him, and his disciples that are the true rinos.
As messed up as the compromised democracy in the usa was, we (countries like New Zealand) really needed the until now - enduring balance of the moderates both left and right cancelling out the worst excesses of their respective radical sides from having too much sway. Trump has murdered that balance. Comparing him to hitler, stalin or mususilini is wrong, he is his own special kind of individual to be sure. But equally as dangerous. To even talk about dissolving nato with what putin is up to, and another certain red colored powerhouse country waiting in the wings to swoop in and mop up the mess and fully take over - where does that leave the likes of resource rich desirable Australia and popgun NZ just next door with a severely weakened America at war with itself? The fact that it is largely at war because of a loudmouthed conman is just so very, very disappointing.
Really with the corruption in politics, it matters little whether the left or right are in "power". I lived 2 years in the USA during trumps presidency. When we left NZ it was national in charge, when we got back, it was labor and as usual, sweet fuck all had significantly changed, especially as labor was the government of getting sweet fuck all done. (I'm far from loving everything the nats are doing either) However on the grand scale of being able to live ones life with even a cursory nod to freedom is more fucking important than which imaginary ideal corrupt piece of shit party is in charge. Debating which side has the best take on governing is about as applicable as speculating if either santa or the easter bunny will improve your life. (naturally, it's santa, he gives a wider range of presents).
