Ahh forgot to take photos except at Rimatex which is now a Z confusingly.

Look around Wainuiaru and back for meal at Gladstone.

Weather forecast Gladstone been up and down but was indeed pretty good.

Enjoying the sun in the deck with a beer.

    Did about 40km today.
Yeah four zero. But found the chaps house who's number i lost. Spent a very enjoyable 2hr talking old 2 strokes. When I was in ICU ill and not expecting id ever ride again I thought of the bikes this guy was doing up.
I won't post pics as at his house, but had a great catchup last saw him at Vashs funeral and then last month in South Island randomly at a cafe.

Nice day for a ride at last, 550 km loop to Whakamaru and back on SH30 through Benneydale. Great riding down there.

    Even managed a photo.

Yes in days gone by I had a K100rs and had my first encounter with unbearable wind noise. I started wearing earplugs. I have memories of a fantastic ride through there. The earplugs tooksome getting used to as I found myself constantly way over the speed I thought I was doing

Went over to Castlepoint yesterday, first biggish ride since heart surgery. Pleased all went well other than a nervous ride back to Masterton after finding there are no petrol stations out the coast. But at Masterton the trip computer said I had 14kms in reserve so no worries. Met a guy with a CF-Moto 675 triple, he said it was really good. Wonder how they arrived t that capacity and config?
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Yes I wonder? last time I was in Masterton needing a fill up I was pleased to stumble upon a Gull Station. Also pleased the 1250 can do about 400km on 9/10ths of a tank.

First ride since April last year yesterday ! Struggled into the Leda skins and wobbled down the road finding I'd forgotten my glasses !!!
Back home to get em. lol
Beaut day Levin to Pahiatua, one coffee shop open so lucky !
Very careful getting the leg over the seat with the new hip joint. Bit sore by the time I got home but good first fang.

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

I have a hearing loss from noise and always wear earplugs now. But it's almost too quiet with the new helmet (Shoei NXR2) and I may look at having some earplugs made which let certain frequencies through so I can hear the exhaust.

There are some great rides in the central North Island, but you really need to stay the night somewhere if coming from Auckland. It's been a while since I've done 550 km in a day on the R1 and I'm still recovering!
