How bout this for an angry letter? I'm so proud!

I came across this awesome letter to the council that my partner wrote and I reckon its awesome! Up yours council! It was after the bloody parking wardens kept giving her street magic tickets.
    It goes something like this:

    To Whom It May Concern:

On Monday 12 March my scooter, registration 12UGL, was unfairly issued with a parking ticket (notice number – P5370248) on Symonds St outside the University of Auckland.
This was issued for failing to display a parking receipt in a pay and display area. However, on this day I had arrived for my 11am lecture and paid for 1 hour of parking, as the motorbike parking area was completely full at the time. I had received a ticket the week earlier under similar circumstances and I wasn’t going to make the same mistake again, $40 puts a big dent in the pockets of students. As a scooter does not have any good places to display a parking receipt I tried to tuck it under the seat. For reasons beyond my control – wind, students brushing past etc, the ticket has obviously been dislodged from where I placed it and the parking warden failed to realise this.
I had done everything in my power to comply with the parking restrictions, however I am the one being punished for the Auckland City Council’s lack of ability in supplying adequate receipts for vehicles other than cars, such as scooters and motorbikes. Until us motorcyclists can pay and display 100% safely as cars do, I refuse that we should be expected to pay the penalty.
I paid for the parking receipt, and displayed it as best as my scooter allowed.
I do not believe I am liable for this infringement fee as well.
I believe consideration in not having to pay this fee is duly expected. Until the Auckland City Council can get their act together and come up with a way to work with motorcyclists, who by the way are easing congestion on Auckland’s roads and heading towards the ‘one less car’ idea the Council promotes, then these problems are going to continue happening, and law-abiding, honest people, like myself, are going to continue to be wrongfully punished.

    Yours sincerely,
    Hannah

I like it. But don't say you stuck it under the seat, say you sellotaped it to the numberplate so they would see, but that you think someone stole it. isn't that what they suggest, that you sellotape or rubber-band it somewhere?
Does anyone know how the council recommends motorcyclists are supposed to stop people taking the ticket?

I notice that the Auckland City Council website still lists the motorcycle park on Princes St. It is near the Symonds St park but one block over.
    http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/auck...motorcycle.asp

This was sort of wiped out by the concrete they put around Alfred St. But I wonder if they would still give you a ticket if you parked there. Ive noticed one or two bikes on the concrete.

It is pretty stupid that they ticket bikes when they say that they encourage bikes with free parking in the CBD.

Seems a bit limp wristed to me. Telling me that was going to be hardcore was like setting me up with Paris Hilton and telling me she was a really lively root (for those that haven't, see the video to understand the comparison )

only time ive parked in a pay and display, i locked it under my petrol cap. worked a treat... got a bit wet with dew though.
if you do this... i suggest putting it on the "uphill" side... a bit of petrol seemed to leak out via the paper tag and onto the tank.

Best of luck with the dispute. Quite often merely taking the effort to simply write in with an argument will get a let off.

In future I'd take a photo of the ticket on your bike clearly showing time and date etc, either on your phone or small digital camera. It's pretty easy to have one of the two on hand these days.

That way they can't argue - if they really want to go down the "it could be your mate's ticket" route, then challenge them to find a better way for bikes to wear their tickets. Until then, what can they do . . .

To beat the dodgy fuckers you have to think like one. Happy to help, I'd hate to see a virago 250 turn into an oversized molotov cocktail. no I wouldnt....yes I would.....no I wouldnt....damn it, I just cant decide

    By not parking there.

    From here

I didn't quite have to search a disused lavatory in the basement (with or without a sign on the door saying beware of the leopard) to find that, but it wasn't entirely obvious. I can't even remember how I got there ...

Serious answer: Who the fuck on here uses a pay area to park their bike? I have never paid for a ticket....ever. The council should give out tickets for severe cases of dumb-arse

Actually that didnt seem so serious
