Ancient and modern weapons and that sort of shit.

Just a bit more shit on the line of famous battles.

So you are the soldier in the battle what would you use.

Me. I'd be in the Roman army on the catapault, tossing live pigs covered in pitch and set alight at Hannibals elephants. That's how Scipio defeated Hannabal at the Battle of Zarma.

Those berserkers in the saxon invaders sounded alright. Doped up with god knows what and off their heads. Spose if you were going to lose it getting stoned might be the way to go. Get your head lopped off and you'd problay still think you are tripping.

Modern weapon. That big 50cal sniper rifle.

    We did.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Best ancient weapon, by far, was the trebuchet.

The thing about most of those famous battles, is it's all a bit messy in the front line....Saxon shield wall? Redcoat in the Penisular war? No ta.

Me, I'll take flying a Hawker Typoon off the "cab ranks" over Normandy - target rich environment ooh yeah!

Make sure the muzzle brake is working or say good by to your upper body. You can cook an egg by putting it by the muzzle brake vents.

Oh and those .50 cal sniper rifles are generally not used for shooting people. They are used for hitting hard targets, such as before an air attack a sniper will shoot holes in the petrol tanks of the enemies planes parked at an air field 2km away, so that they can't scramble their planes.

As for me, I'll take a sword and armour, and also kevlar and a functional and practical version of the OCIW.

    Spank you very much..

Longest recorded sniper kill was done by a canadian with one. They are dubbed 'anti material rifle' but I think it may be a fancy name for a big ass gun that kills people really far away, and if you cant see the person shoot thte vehicle he's in, then shoot him

Dyers, where did you get that info?

    1. Its acually not that heavy and is carried around by a few units of the world.
    2. Older .303's are longer than some versions of a .50
    3. Thats what the recoil dampers are for that are built into the stock. I have and I have seen others fire it standing up (Not comfortably or accurately)
    4. Rounds are around $5. BMG rounds are worth more.

The .50 round was designed as an armour peircing round. Now adays, snipers in the feild carry a variety of rounds for them based on the task at hand. The rifle is designed as a people killer.

A muzzel brake generally works, otherwise it flies off the barrel.

The fuel tanks are one of the last targets on an enemy aircraft. First target is always the cockpit. A fuel tank is easily repaired, electronics ect arent.

Maybe you are thinking more of the M2s ect that are mounted on APC's ect, but the .50 LRSR is a work of art and a fantastic tool.

Anyway, my fav and I was lucky enough to have owned one is the Rem 700 chambered for .300 WSM

The quarterstaff is the king of weapons, simple but brutal and effective.

the Spanish unscrewed the head from a Halbered to create a makeshift Quarterstaff. Armed with the weapon of his choice Peeke stood ready to meet his next challenger. However the Spanish were clearly no longer so confident in the prowess of their soldiers for, to Peeke's consternation, two Swordsmen stepped forward to fight him. Peeke sarcastically asked if more would like to join them. The Duke of Medyna asked how many he desired to fight.

"Any number under sixe". replied Peeke.

The Duke smiled scornfully and beckoned a third man to join the original two. Peeke and the rapier men warily traversed each other, all the while thrusting and warding, till finally Peeke gambled on an all out attack. His first blow a left one of his adversaries dead and his subsequent blows left the other two injured and disarmed. No doubt they also left the spanish seriously questioning the wisdom of their invasion plans. Peeke's feat so impressed his Spanish captors that they released him and granted him safe conduct to England.

A tale to warm the heart of every Englishman, but the realities of the quarterstaff were far more gruesome, as a report from 1527 shows.

On the 4th of September, John Strynger late of Babworth, laborour, assaulted Henry Pereson of Babworth with a staff worth 1d. Which he held in both hands, striking him on top of the head so that his brains flowed out and giving him a wound 1 inch deep, 2 inches wide and 3 inches long of which he immediately died. Thus John feloniously murdered him, and immediately afterwards he fled about 9am and escaped. Robert Bramley, a man of good reputation and standing, first found Henry dead. I wish I could think of something knightly and heroic. Alas, based on practicality I have to choose the weapon of choice of peasants and cowards - the crossbow.
Modern weapon? I have a bit of a weakness for AK47 Kalashnikov assault rifle - we captured so many of them...

Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule

Kinda like being dipped in honey and thrown to the lesbians......

Do you believe in reincarnation Skyryder? Given your pig story your moniker sounds like an apt name for one of those poor pigs.
