Small and dangerous with a sting in my tail!!
Your comments regarding lectures about saftey are interesting. I have received any number of messages tonight for my comments. One that sticks out is this....the message sender is aware i am posting this too.....
"One of the differences was that after this trip back (where the photo was taken) she continued past the fish and chip shop down the road and then rode back again.
Noted by many there that this was "stoopid". Noted that same rider had earlier bollocked another rider for not following the "rules" around "last rider" protocol at turn offs etc
This rider also has a bad habit of riding hands-off which scares the shit out of me ... better hope no emergency stop needed let a lone a fookin' pot hole."
There have been more.........this attempts to remove the doubt around my comments about what happened today.
Funny - none of the noobies saw it - they were tucking into fish and chips at the time
I think this is part of a hidden agenda and I'm not impressed.
Ignore away.
But before you do, I dont view this thread as a specific action on a specific photo but rather a general overview of opinion and weather or not those opinions should be voiced or not. My vote is for yes.
Even if in this specific instance the chances of the rider falling off and breaking something were zero, it still poses at interesting debate that most bikers consider it inappropriate to not wear a helmet.
Reminds me of the parade lap at wanganui last year where all the riders go round without helmets. Some with girlfriends/children on their bikes with no gear on at all, at parade speed. Nothing wrong with that at all. Good chance for the fans to see who is riding the bikes. However there was a group of people not far from where we were sitting commenting on how stupid it was to have no gear on.
On another note. Does ATGATT stand for All The Gear All The Time? On a ride that promotes that seems a little ironic to have one of the 'experienced' riders riding with no gear.....................

Who gives a shit about no helmet! What would make this thread better is if there were pics of a whole lot of women riders wearing nothing at all! Haha, I'm sure the guys would agree with me![]()
Perhaps the most interesting thing about this thread is that we are discussing the potential influence of an experienced rider demonstrating non-approved behaviour, yet it had no immediate consequences on this ride. I certainly didn't see a whole bunch of newbies suddenly firing up their bikes and riding off helmetless. Maybe it gave them the idea, I don't know? Hopefully not as most seemed pretty sensible.
On the other hand, there were at least 3 bins on this ride. I didn't see any of them and I do not know the circumstances of them, however due to KB's code of conduct we won't be discussing them unless the person involved posts. So there can be no opportunity for new riders to learn from other peoples mistakes. Maybe that should be a topic for discussion?
The people I rode with all had a good time and rode well. I think I managed to give some reasonable advice to a couple of new riders. However it's threads like this that mean I don't hold myself up as a "mentor", nor do I publicly comment on other people's riding on KB rides as I know I am far from perfect when it comes to riding despite many years experience.
Crashe is a character, something KB seems woefully short of these days, but one who I have been, and will be happy to ride with in the future.
