I've 'met' them on here before. Anyone who defends a group's 'right' to behave obnoxiously is a mate of that group AND a dickhead. Where did I say you were one of them?

It's not "inflammatory". I've taken a long hard look at how I ride (and do so continually) and changed my habits. I try to avoid blatantly illegal moves in built up areas.

The only road users who give me "moments" these days are 250 riders (of a particular style of 250 I might add. They generally grow up to be GSXR pilots.) and cyclists.

Of those two groups the bikers are generally redeemable. The cyclists are getting worse and their numbers are increasing. These people are obviously doing hill training in preparation for the Round Taupo race coming up, and I understand ENTIRELY the need to do so.

I used to cycle everywhere until I was 20 or so. I've toured the Nth Island by bicycle.You CAN go through intersections without obstructing other road users, there is no need to spear out of a side street and onto the other side of the road. My concern is that unlike trucks, cars, vans, motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds, bicycles are unregistered and in the aftermath of an accident caused by their careless behaviour they can escape scot free as they are unidentifiable.

Cyclists should admit (and the KB-resident ones have admitted) that, in bunches, many of their compatriots tend to ride like cunts.

Everyone else should try riding an 8kg pushbike with 10mm tyre contact patches on the road sometime. They'd get fitter and it would assist with empathy.

We gave up on "An Asian Driver Pulled Out In Front Of Me Today" threads on KB years ago. I think it's time to put the "Cyclists Are Bastards" threads to rest as well.

There is nothing more important than NOT killing other people. I seriously thought (for the first time ever) that I was going to kill one of them, through their own stupidity. We can get along when everyone realises that they have to make an effort to get along by owning the responsibility for their own stupid behaviour.

been there, done that. every day for forms 1 through 7, and then 2 years of courses. by the end of those courses, i was doing about 3 hours riding a day... 30mins to and from course, plus an hour at lunch. if i felt like it, id do extra going to and from course. funny thing is... it didnt aid my weight or fitness problems at all. hell, by the time i was done, i had completed in 10 mins, a ride across town that takes about 30 mins.

doesnt stop me hating ignorant ANYTHING. cyclists on their own are fine... pairs, still ok so long as go single file on the open road. any more that they are a damn hazard. there are velodromes for training, and road races should be done on closed roads only.

respect goes both ways, and they cannot demand it without showing some in return.

Bicycles count as vehicles ever since that law change a few years back (hell so do skateboards) so if they're on the road they have to obey the road rules...
e.g. Give way, kept left etc....

I believe it's mandatory for them to have lights if riding at night already
Any chance there'll ever be required to have mirrors...would make it much easier to make them aware of who they're holding up
