Yeah, good point. And I re-read what I wrote and I sounded like a bit of a dick, so sorry for that.

I guess I look at it as a second chance to get a ticket to something. I decide what that event is worth to me, and I pay that price to whoever is asking. Which looks like what you did for the U2 concert.

And I agree, Kanye West sucked a big pile of ass.

Nothing wrong with making a profit mate, that is what makes the world go around, pays the wages.....

Scalpers are scum, and the practise should be made illegal! I will happily pay to see my favourite team/band/act perform, but only the ticket price, even that has made me wince a couple of times. There have been many times I have missed out on tickets, only to see them for sale at hugely inflated prices later.

And what are Ticketec if they themselves are not scalpers? They sell the tickets for a profit, and charge the buyers extra for the priviledge.

I do not have an issue with scalpers as the organisers of these various sports (and other) events can do exactly the same if they wish. They can sell the tickets on TradeMe to the highest bidders and know that they are getting fair value for a sellout event. If scalpers wish to outbid everyone else at auction, then they certainly aren't going to be able to onsell at a higher price still.

My opinion is who cares,I bought tickets for Claptons' mission concert off tm for $450 buy now, missed out as was working when tickets were sold(sold out in 3 hours?),original cost was $100 each, what did piss me off was the people with 4 tickets selling as they bought to scalp them, the guy we bought was given trip to aussie free at same time, mind you now I belong to mission concert group now know when the next concert is next year, not sure who though,at least can book beds for it.

There are a heap of questions on most of the auctions from irate and angry people hurling abuse at the sellers.
Enter "warriors eels" into the search box on tardme and amuse yourself for a short time.
Thats ok... I more interested in riding me bike than watching the box or even going to a game live...

ALSO... they happily sell 10 / 20 / 30 tickets to one person.

Sell them in amounts of four(?) (average family?) and then the person goes to the back of the queue for the next lot.

If someone buys a bike with the intention of selling it immediatly for a profit are they also scum?

The difference is that the park adds value into the transaction. They provide beer for you to drink and you pay for the value in the transaction. BYO is problematic because it's very hard to control intoxication, so providing beers is a good compromise.

Scalpers add no value. Some people love scalpers because it enables them to get tickets to a sold out event. But if the scalpers didn't buy all the tickets then the chances of getting a ticket is increased for the people that want them enough to get in the queue the day they go on sale.

The warriors games have a great atmosphere because it's more working class - like english football but to a lesser extent. Imagine the atmosphere when the only people who attend are the ones who can afford $50 per ticket, it'd be like going to a blues game

Trade Me on the radio news this afternoon, they are not pullying any Warrior tickets off trade me as they are not contravening any ticket sale conditions.
Mad Butcher wants to spit in scalpers faces for same.
