TCWNR destination is usually determined at the duck pond by those present on the night. However, I would think it acceptable to have a pre-planned destination, such as Carterton for Pizza, for 3rd Oct, as a kind of celebration that a new season is underway. If anyone considers that to be too far or difficult for them, then perhaps they give it a miss that week, and we look forward to their company the following week when "business as usual" - with hand holding for any that want it - should resume.

If TCWNR is headed to Carterton on 3rd Oct then it should be made clear on the new thread, so nobody turns up without that knowledge.

As usual, everyone is free to ride where they like, and even two TCWNR destinations is not out of the question - perhaps Carterton for some, and a local ride for those that don't want such a late night.

Spare a thought for those of us that have to ride back to Kapiti!

Ok the pizza place was just a suggestion, and I didnt think that we would make it a regular thing. But as it is a newbies ride, and I do consider myself a bit of a newbie... going all the way from Welly to Carterton could be alittle bit too much. Not sure what to do about it. I do think that as a newbie the 'takas' can seem abit scary at the best of times, so I would hate to think anyone was coming over who didnt feel confident in going all the way to Carterton and was only do it cause the rest of 'us' were. Not that we are holding the newbies hand Skel but we do have to think about the people who arent so experienced or confident. I have been riding for quite a while now as you know, but I still have my moments, everyone learns at their own pace eh...

Perhaps we should table a plan to "go all the way" (to Carterton) in the middle of the summer when (a) there's more light and (b) newbies can be safely pre-informed and if necessary bought up to speed.

    What say, ye?

1 vote for skels from me. I rode with skels when he first started. I know I speak for myself and one other who is no longer here, that we liked riding with skels because he rode how he wanted too and to what he felt he was comfortable with. We didn't mind waiting at intersections because he always turned up (not that we were waiting that long).
Didnt hold his hand, all of us have advice but he progressed at his own pace.

I'm easy (not that easy!) The pizza shop will be there for a while, so whatever everyone decides is fine. I will be at the first ride anyway even if we just go to feathers like we use to. (but not if its raining!) Although Carterton is only another 20mins down the road.

If the main issues with Carterton are going over the hill and being back by 10pm will it really make any difference to have it in the middle of summer. The hill will be the same, we'll still get back at the same time and itll still be dark by 10pm.
