Like I said Kick, it is standard - but for the pistons. A standard turboed engine is still standard inside isn't it Kick??
Our gain was from the outside, and not bolt on engine bits either - rather a modified Mr Dobalina piece of sheer f@rken brilliance!! That's what gave us the edge, and the ease of the championships. It's not (always) the dollars that buys you the championship, rather your expertise in your field. Mr Sidecar Bob is a f$%^$'n legend with fuel injection systems! Just look at the difference in HP figures pre and post dyno runs!!
I'd trust him with me life I would!! But wouldn't leave him alone with me misses!!
As for comparing sizes....... I've only got a small one, so thats why I need big HP!! You know the saying..... Hummers - built for guys with small willys.....![]()
Is it still beastiality if ya fuck a frozen chicken??
what a lame thread this turned out to be, thought it would be interesting to see what dyno results people got on what bikes. seems everyone got a little side tracked from that !!.
"It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters whether I win or lose !
Ok, we did it backwards, just to see how we were doing.
Not a bike but the theory is the same.
Our race car did X on the quarter. We had an Isky slide rule and worked out that to do what we were doing would equate to Y hp/ Z torque, ok? So, we hoisted the engine, stuck it on the dyno and discovered that what we thought we had, we actually had. The point being; the slide rule was right and so was our tune up.
We expanded the combination, broke some shit, learned a lot and got it sorted in about two seasons, one of which was devoted to the handling package alone. The dyno isn't really a requirement any more, it's superfluous to the application but there are many applications to which it is vital to stay on top. Naturally aspirated engines are sensitive to change, be it atmospheric, mechanical or otherwise but I'll say it again; all the power in the world won't help a goose.
Dyno'ing an engine is only any good if the operator of that engine knows how to operate it.
What with the sidecar boys slugging it out and trading insults and innuendo. Goblin and Sidecarbob getting all sexually frustrated and peasea repeating himself over and over it's actually getting quite interesting - I almost hate to bring it back on topic, but here we go.
Standard 06 FZ1 with a PC3. Now to alay any concerns the PC3 was fitted specifically to remove the throttle snatch these things are well known for.
Thats not bad STRANGER.My mates just brought an 04 FZ1, i show him your dyno chart as he is curious to have an idea what sort HP FZ1s have.
"It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters whether I win or lose !
I like the dyno as it shows you some numbers for any changes you've made.
Wether they were for the good or bad.
Numbers to compare with your own previous dyno runs on the same dyno.
Can't wait to get some numbers on the mighty XR.
May even be into the 20's.
Dynos are good diagnostic tools as well. Plus in my experiance they are remarkably similar up and down the country as far as readings go. Most software takes into consideration any factors that will alter the readings, like atmospheric conditions. At No 1 while looking for the reason my bike was running like shit and REALLY hard to start I got 175hp at the back wheel. Sorry - can't find the chart.
From what I've read, they're usually run with the bike in third gear, and full throttle. Is that correct? Can they be used to set fueling at lesser throttle openings? The VFR basically goes OK now it's got a PCII back on it, but I've been considering a dyno run not to see how much power it's got, just to get the air/fuel ratio better in a few part-throttle areas below 6k rpm.
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
You can run them how you like.
My bike they ran in 4th gear (of 5) and it hit the limiter out at 140 odd kph.
The fuel map can be set for various throttle settings and over a wide range of RPM.
In the map below you will see that at 5,500rpm on 5% throttle they added 26% more fuel. At 7,000rpm on 80% throttle they removed 14% of the fuel that. The PC interpolates values for combinations not actually displayed.
This is a portion of the map I am currently running.
