Far out - that totally sucks. You are not having an easy time of it old son... Take care eh - not enough good buggers out there on two wheels as it is.

Don't take it personally - I doubt if it would have made any difference to the 4 x 4 if you were on a $50 bike.... I guess that given the value of the bike, this is going to be a hell on an insurance tussle though - good luck and start gathering the paperwork.

    paint by

Hi the paint was done by Imagination unlimited BY Dean 0274 373852 i had the bike insured for 50k but it really should of been 60k but my premiums were allmost double for the extra 10k it stinks but you have to have, the worse problem is trying to get an assesor to see it for what it was and not just a bike, last time i got hit they only valued the bike at 26k and the rest was wear and tear just dont figure, ive only had the bike back since july when dean finished off the paintwork, o well shit happens regards and best wishes

Buggar mildly puts it, but at least you are ok. I hope the insurance pays up fair & fast & you'll back on two wheels soon.

A bit off topic, but here's a vid of my Colt (1973 16L Mitsubishi Galant "Colt") up on the Summit Road, Christchurch. For those who are interested, it's not that great but someone might like it... I guess as far as cages go it kind of blends in with the bikers I hang out with - can't wait to get a bike though!

Don't you just love insurance companys!! You may well get the 50k back with the "average" quote from several dealers, but I wouldn't hold my breath for the work done afterward. Bummer, feel for you - it's happened to me in the past, so can image your rage. Probably feel like this ...?

So sorry to hear about the crash, although glad to hear you are OK.

Its such a shame to see a work of art like your bike get trashed simply because of the inattention of another.

Take photos and receipts etc to dealers who can appraise your bike of its true worth, as the scum sucking insurance companies will try to screw you on the value of your bike! But with a few quotes from dealers they take the average, so leave out the low ones
Absolutely! Custom stuff is sometimes hard to put a value on and there's the individuality of it.....

Glad you're ok and man, that looked like one way-cool ride.

I only cut when I could see 100m ahead of me - that makes me a criminal? Least I wasn't speeding, it's not capable of it ;D. But no, you can actually see right the way down the road when your going around there.

    4x4

thanks i think i would prefer a new bike thats two times that i have been taken out on this one so maybe i think i dont want a third shot ?. if i get a new bike it will still be the same paint theme as it go`s with my reg plate.

i think that 4X4 drivers are hunters that cannot get a gun licence and hunt out motorcycles instead as thats twice this year that i have been taken out by these 4x4 buggers

Sorry mate, but I'm a hunter with a gun licence and a 4x4, but I have ridden a bike and am extra careful as I know there is poor vision out the rear and compensate for it. The bad thing is that there are too many out there who are incompetant idiots.

    4x4

maybe the law should be changed on 4x4`s and as they are made for off road use they should not be allowed on the road, most accidents with a 4x4 and a normal car are nealy allways fatal as there height makes cars go underneath and get crushed, also the 4x4 driver get a feeling off im ok i am bigger than them they can and will get out of my way, and to top it all off vision isnt very good for all round view by the driver so they are definalty not safe for raod use, i spoke to the cop that was at my crash and he stated that most cops dont like them as they stuff up the roads and the weight to power ratio of them is far too great, they dont have high speeds (most) but the tourqe that they put out chews up and damages the road surface.

The amount of road damage done by a 4x4 - even a 2.5t monster - is absolutely insignificant compared to what is done by a 40+t truck and trailer combo...
