    Had an epiphany...

Whilst on my way North several days ago, something clicked with my riding.
Due to several reasons I've been riding a LOT slower than what I have in my recent past but have grown to enjoy it,albeit on a different level.
It's an odd feeling but one I've been waiting for for quite some time and I had been trying to slow my road riding for a fair while but for whatever reasons it all just came together.
Don't get me wrong, there will no doubt be occasions that a genuine good squirt etc but for the most part it's done and dusted.

BTW...no I haven't joined the fluro vest brigade...few years to go yet

We'll have you doing the Coro hill in a fluoro vest yet mate, don't you worry.

Does this mean I might be able to keep up with you now, or do you not actually mean slowed down as in, you know... slow...

So what do you think actually triggered that epiphany???

i mean anyone has to slow down (for whatever reason), but enjoying it is definitely something to be celebrated...

And what exactly do you enjoy about it?

LOL...no not "slow" but not so freaking yee ha as I could get.
There used to be times where I got over the top especially when living up North. Sideways in...sideways out
Bro...you won't have any troubles over taking me if you so desire

Not positive but at the time I was just enjoying smoothing along in my own version of motorcycling heaven. Whatever the trigger was I'm happy.

What am I enjoying about it? I get to see so much more...it's a different fun factor too.
    Quite odd and surreal

    That's great!

As long as you enjoy it, then that's all that matters, eh?
So, no more broom handle and suicide gear lever thingy anymore for you I guess?...

Oddly enough I know exactly what you mean.

I had about 50km of just that, heading north on the Napier-Taupo road with a pillion last weekend (before the heavens opened and we started having to squirt around trucks in flying spray and crap visibility).

Just flowing along the road, no brakes required, spending most of the time at speeds that wouldn't warrant an immediate loss of licence. It was bliss.

i can relate, don't want to push my humble limits much, just a little bit sometimes....mainly just enjoy steady pace with low risk, dont want to damage my bike or myself and I'm more aware of that happening these days.

I may be slowing my riding but it doesn't mean I have to be all normal and stuff does it?

Nice one my wise friend. Next thing you will be telling me that you are keen to fit heated hand grips

    You will have to read up about riding a motorbike at slow speeds as it comes with a whole different set of dangers from fast speeds, like;

    Slow speed wobbles
    Drifting off into a daydream
Riding with your I POD and changing songs

    etc.
    Om nom nom.

Are you sure it wasn't an enema you had Chris? They can slow your riding down a bit but it usually wears off after a while...

Welcome to my world man, well maybe not as slow as my world or my bike but you know what I mean.
It's great when you can with out the going
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.

    Comes to us all.

When younger I found that bike riding was all about getting there as fast as possible, as I have gotten older it has changed and now it is more about the journey and the freedom of riding.

Welcome to approaching old age. Some of us are there already we just havent realised it yet.

hehe...your reputation preceeds you...as per Bravo1's lovely tell tale at the Cold Kiwi this year...

Oh no, please don't That would be like killing a legend of entertainment...And normal is highly overrated in most of our books, ain't it?
