Wouldn't it be easier for the cop if he just shot the guy?

ditto 100% ...had too many pushbike accidents from cars hitting me for no damn reason to not wear a helmet, dont care if I look funny, keeps my head warm in the cold frosty mornings too
....those that dont, deserve whatever they may get from not wearing one, but dont think I would have gone to the extreme the cop did, musta been freaky to see
Cant believe 2 separate groups on here saw it, weird co-incidence....

I would feel a little stink...but in the same way that I can get over a speeding fine that I got on the way to somewhere that I shouldn't have needed to go in the first place were it not for my own forgetfulness...i.e. the fine may have happened 'cos I was out there but it could have been avoided 'cos I was being a dumb bitch...I can get over that muppet...i.e. he may have not suffered brain damage if I didn't hit him, but the fact that he's a dumb bitch and was not wearing a helmet is not my fault...

all this assuming that it was his fault he got hit...if it were my fault, it'd be different.

perhaps he's a brand-new baby cop and they've only just promoted him to harrassing cyclists from harrassing pedestrians ..... and the responsibility and power just overwhelmed him ... and .....

or he could just have been having a really bad day?

just because someone is having a bad day doesn't give that person the right to bring it to work.

I already mentioned that in the "scraping the bottom of the barrel post". I hope you're quicker than that when you're chasing a cyclist.

About a month ago at bp edgeware one morning ,I saw a guy in a real smokey old 1.0 litre daihatsu charade rice burner came sceeching round a corner doing a runner from the older motorbike cop -flash bmw, queer siren sounding, had balls , cause it looked like all the cop was doing was following the smoke. 3mins later bike comes back slowly, lookin all about, not sure how he managed to lose him..... he had a bigger engine than the car!! I know it was wrong but it looked so funny

Ahh.. the total brilliance of the policeman at work. Its an offence because you MIGHT get hurt if you don't wear a helmet. So.. to enforce it, we make sure you DO get hurt. Brilliant really... (Am I trapped in a Monty Python movie..?)

Um u DO realise the original post was nearly 3 years ago lol
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

Nah, they're waiting for Tazers to be issued to all forces. That way they won't have to tackle you.

    Nice thread dredge.

Its an offence because your politicians made it so.

Failing to stop changed things from a straight forward infringement notice to an arrestable offence.

Your politicians also give the police the power to use force to affect an arrest.

The dumb arse cyclist is the master of his own misery.
