Ha ha opinions! And opinionated people.
A friend taught me to wheelie and it was amazing. Great fun, and leaning how to BETTER ride my steed I feel more comfortable on it. Still cant do 250 meter monos on esmode road like him tho.

I suppose a statement like this could sum up the feeling of people who have never tried it(or have tall poppy syndrome)

Having never tried it I can honestly say it has nothing to offer me!

Spoken by a true seppo(I think?)

4 inch wheelies on my 400. woohoo im mega!

ps. the whole police thing with wheelies is a whole lot of bullshit. they say you aint in full control of the vehicle, when the reality is, a lot of people who can wheelie well have more control over their bike than most people riding with both wheels on the ground.

    Its true.

I guarantee some of the guys on KB can ride better on the back wheel than you on both.

Hey, if it was me stuck in traffic like that, I would have appreciated seeing and hearing the bike accelerating off down the motorway in complete freedom even without the posing wheelie.

Think of the message that that would have given to everybody in their cars... Motorcycles could be a mainstream alternative to car congestion and high petrol prices, and you don't need to be a cowboy or temporary citizen to ride one.

    A couple of things.
    1: "posing" wheelie????????

2: "message"...........if I heard a big yellow bus accelerating off down the motorway in complete freedom.....it probably wouldn't make me consider hoping on a bus to get to work....even if the bus driver had a cowboy hat on

Geeez... There is alot of heros in this thread... But if you look in the 2007 November issue of Motorcycle Trader... I believe I am the only hero on a bike recently in NZ

"Wheelies are neither big nor clever."

And yes Mr Mair... Boozers are Loozers...

Heres the new one... "If its not in your hand, its in the box..." This of course refers to the tool box and tools whilst working onmotorcycles...

Speaking of cowboy hats... Watching the guy ride the bomb in Dr Strangelove may give me a hardon, but that doesn't mean i'd consider riding a 55kton nuke to work...

    (Was that out loud? )

Wheelies are neither big, nor clever.

Most of mine are done out on back country roads between twisty sections. Mostly for fun. I occasionally do them to show off, but even that is fun. I can appreciate that some people find them vulgar which is why I'm very selective in the times and places I lift the front wheel off the ground.
After a year and a half of racing, I've discovered that wheelies are awesome for learning throttle control. Though that's something which cannot be appreciated by anyone who keeps both wheels firmly on the deck
