    Fav knee-down corners/roads

If you intend to come in to this post and bitch that I am preaching and or condoning an unsafe practice - I AM, now shut up.

    My Favs:

    Wellington:

    • Aoteo Onramp heading north
    • 45km Left Hander after exit to Kaitoke GoKart Track (camber sucks tho - so speed is important)
    • Vivian Street Onramp
    • 99% of the corners on the Taka's (esp the top corner heading south - and NOT WHEN THERE IS BLOODY DIESEL ON THE ROAD)
    • Roundabout at the north end of Upper Hutt - record - 9 times around - yes stupid I know
    • Trentham Offramp heading south
    • Under the Railway Bridge heading south the Stokes Valley
    • The road out behind Martinborough through to Masterton/Gladstone
    • Hill Rd from Pauatahanui north
    • Grays Rd from Plimmerton to Pauatahanui
    • Tatahi Bay Road
    • 45km Corners over the bridges to Martinborough - nice switch back - BungBung saw me nearly take an impromtu swim there going in to the left hander

    To name but a few

Niiice!! - Also where you turn left to Masterton, turn right instead out toward Ngaumu Forest.

Road to Castlepoint is fun off peak (i.e not during peak summer hols and during the day Spring and Autmn.) Commuted from Castlepoint to Wellington for 2 weeks on the RG once. Was bliss.

Been sideways down that bridge on my VFR400 with one foot on the deck due to diesel. Was a real YEHAAAR ride.

buckland rd between karapiro and matamata (goes past hobbitville)

the mystery creek gully heading towards the airport - one steep downhill 45k lh corner followed by a steeper uphill 45k rh corner

taharoa rd between morrinsville and tauwhare - steep hill climb with blind crests and corners, flowing downhill with FAST corners

I don't do knee down - foot down yes, knee down no.But one of the longest corners to really get into apart from on ramps (unless the whole point is to show off to car drivers) is the uphill right heading south after the Tuakau bridge, just goes on and on.I take it at around 100kph on my dirtslug - you guys should be able to double that knee down I reckon.

from then lights at cobham drive hamilton, head north, sweeping right hander tightens into a right hand/left hand set - brush the agapanthas on the right hander, then look out for the man hole cover on the left hander, with armco to keep you honest, then the very tight and slippery roundabout if turning right towards the river. never fails to put a smile on my face. luv draggin off the boy racers (one crashed into the barrier behind me one day HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)

    More Wellington knee-downers

The last corner on the Ngaio Gorge road (going downhill)
The road around the north side of the Pauatanui inlet has about four really good ones (both ways too)
The Haywards Hill road SH2 merge lane going north.

    Woo hoo!

    But wait, there's more...

How could I forget the Lake Rotoma to Kawerau Road (and back). This stretch of tar is a blast!

Nice corners Hitcher - the merge lane is fantastic - provided all the cars in it know how to merge and aren't just fecken sitting there.

The Nauranga Flyover from the Gorge to the Motorway heading south is fantastic also - you just need a bit of speed on.

The Newlands Turnoff heading north is good as well.

Martinborough town square is also good.

That's the good thing about the Haywards on ramp -- you get a good look at the traffic status prior to getting on the gas and gunning.

I've just checked out your recommendation on the Ngauranga flyover -- how much exactly is a "bit of speed on"? I was doing legal limit plus about 30%, tried square-cutting it as much as you can and wasn't getting anywhere near...

    road aint a racetrack.

140 through a 55 is quite fast enough....

used to do 55's at 160...well a few times....too risky on the road...

140 is still resonably safe...160 is getting too quick for me...if i had a bigger bikei could go faster...but the 250 cant push me tight round the corners like a big bike can...

because when the 250 dirfts if doesnt have enough grunt to sustain it...so it tries to highside ya.
