You almost sold that to me. I was doomed from the beginning

Let me know how the rebuild goes. I reckon I can turn it into a pretty damn badass machine if I tidied mine from the ground up. Re-paint the frame (currently black but with several chips and a nasty dent) replace all bearings and such, get all the TYGA kit for it too, and isn't a 450cc big bore kit being developed by some dudes in America? That would be excellent.

It'll be a good bike once everything that can go wrong has gone wrong and I'm left with everything fixed.

The tri-colour paint job is for the USA's 25th anniversary of the Interceptor, which is what the VFR's called in Mrka. The earlier model VF750s were also called Interceptors, as were the VF500s. It's like how they call almost all their Kwackasuckis "Ninjas".
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

there was a 434cc big bore kit sold on tardme a month or so ago for cheap (relatively about $700 or so IIRC)

the motors dont seem to cause issues, but all the "other" bits do when they are this age ... they're 18 or so years old remember....

I've often wondered if a 750 motor could be shoehorned into a NC30 frame

Believe it or not the 750 frame is so similar in size that you would mix them up.

They have completely different engine mounts though.

Interesting, now that's what I'm after if I was to do my 'strip down to every single bolt, shine or replace everything and build back together' project.

Yeah, It's the same age as me

Interesting. My Dad's friend has recently aquired a RC30. He's getting it in a week (borrowing our trusty trailer, not the first time it's carried a VFR). Dead keen to see it as soon as he gets it. Don't think I'll get a ride unless I promise him my first born (which I haven't ruled out just yet).

Now why would you want to do that and waste a perfekly good 750 motor Just buy a nice early 750 like my 86 (well except for dodgy fairing on one side) and you get the best of both world..and I bet you will ride it longer than a tiny little 400

Seriously I have a pearl white 750 for sale - have not advertised it as my brother keeps telling me he'll take it but he never seems to have the $$. Have the carbs off ATM as I had to clean them & reset the float levels and never seem to get time to nail it all back together. S'only done about 30,000kms and I'd part with it for the best offer over $2k but you'd havfta fit the carbs yourself - its easy enough and I have a good fairing that needs paint.

Oh and it needs recompliancing as the insurance company de-rego'd it rather than replace the fairings - wankers!!!!

    The queue forms over there------------->

Pretty keen to give up and get something else when I get a proper job. It's not worth selling since I'll only get back what I've spent, not what I've paid for it. It'll be with me till the day I die. Test riding an XR650 tomorrow

Admittedly, would be a very good model of bike. You have to be a pretty damn good rider to keep up with me despite my shit skills. Looks great too. But why did I have to get the bloody lemon? It is definately not a joy, instead it's brought me back into my depression which I fought so hard to get bloody out of.

I'm looking at getting an XR next. Sigh....

VFR's will become rarer once I've delt to this one...
the vfr is not a dumb bike, it knew you were not a believer and decided to stop doing as it was asked.

mine has been sweet to me and all i did was give it oil and gas and a few tyres, batteries and 3 carb balances.

Carb balances... bet mine needs that. One of the front cylinders stopped working so well this weekend. I'm guessing an exhaust pipe has become loose (took them off to get the sump onto a stand so I could do the disks).

That is not the case. I've noticed, bar health and family, I can only have 1 good thing going for me. School/work, relationships, bikes. My job is alright but shit pay, failed miserably at school, I've got an excellent girlfriend, and the bike is giving me grief. I first noticed this with my RG. The RG came into grief whenever I was enjoying school and it seized the week after meeting my soon to be girlfriend.

If anything, the VFRPS should be proud of my effort so far. I may not have the best attitude, but I've kept one of the noble steeds running at great relative expense.
