WooHoooo first time 2up with me in charge!

Big day for me! Firstly went for a fantastic ride out to MaLeftEye (Maraetai Beach) with bandit girl. Was so cool to be out with another chickie rider and it was just the right day for ride with coffee out at the beach. So, my first ride ever with another KBer (apart from Katman, who is related to me). Looking forward to more.
Secondly had to take Rosie in for it's 5K service and went with the option of taking my son on the back of Bandicoot and he rode Rosie home. My first ever ride with someone on the back! With his extra 64kg behind me I was actually able to put my feet flat on the road when I stopped
Had been apprehensive about what doubling would be like but was actually very cool. Bandicoot still was chomping at the bit for extra speed down the motorway even with the two of us on her! Just hope that lovely policeman with the speed camera doesn't growl at my whole 8kph extra over
p.s. son survived both the ride with his mum and the ride home all in one piece.
I lahk to moove eet moove eet...

I pillion Mrs Insanity a lot. The VTZ of doom is a little light on power 2 up but not bad. Up to you but I'd just give it a go mate.

Oh and big ups on the 2 up Princess. Well done girl.

I've done a little bit of mileage 2-up on a variety of roads, on a bike that's got 1 horsepower less than a Hyo. Power does tend to disappear, down to scooter-like levels, and acceleration off the lights is reduced to car levels. Open road speed was fine, 100kph+ coming up after a lengthy wait. The worst though was the handling, which turned to poo. My bike is light, and with such a large percentage of weight added the suspension was really not up to it.

The general rule is, double all your stopping and acceleration distances, plan ahead as far as possible, and realise that your bike will be much slower to react. Treat it like a slow-moving car, not the usual nimble two-wheeled machine we're used to. Choose quiet roads (like Waiheke!), it's one thing injuring or killing yourself due to lack of experience, but somebody else too?

Do-able, though, especially with a light (and pretty ) girl on the back. Lots of fun. And the best thing is the first 10 minutes or so back 1-up... your bike will feel like the fastest, nimblest, sweetest handling machine this side of a MotoGP bike

Well done on the pillioning thing! It aint as hard as you often think, just as the others say, make sure you leave plenty of starting/stopping space.
I use to pillion my sister and all our gear to lots of rallys on my previous bike (a 750), there are certain advantages to having a pillion.
Like them keeping you warm on the road to the Brass monkey in the snow, and being able to put their legs down when yours have frozen up and you are about to topple over... see HEAPS of good things!
Not to mention have singing competitions thru the headphones to see who can think of the silliest verse

I also did it a little bit on the 250, but not so much fun... bit hard on the old girl it was, for us two not little ladies!

Good on ya, actually these last couple of days, I've pillioned twice now! izzit something that happens when you get your fool licence?

I think zeocen is still looking for parts of his kneecap that I almost mashed against a truck (after he scared me half to death when he was actually controlling the bike at one stage!) ... and my cousin was aghast when I turned up with a spare helmet bunged on the back and away we went!

He enjoyed it so much hes thinking of sitting his basic and doing the scratch and win!

I guess Pikachu didn't count before?
