2008 Kawasaki gpx250/zx2r. When can I get it?

I've seen one in the flesh, and mate, they are the biggest case of mutton dressed as lamb I've ever seen.

I knew this day would come... so here it is 'I would rather have a Hyosung 250 than one of those'.

Well, I'd rather have an RGV, but you know... some girls still wanna buy 4 strokes, and I can understand that

Or more to the point why rush?

I'm still happy with my 250.
I'd have to pay for the license upgarde.
And then buy a new bike - losing money on the trade-in or sale of my current one...and it's still being paid off, so forget about the trade-in half paying for the next one.

Just a good way to throw away a lot of cash

No rush, really. Just sayin'. 250ccs is just too small for a four-stroke motorcycle engine. Just a wee bit too small. And the two fiddy market is all fucked up price-wise. It's best to get out of it ASAP. For example, the GS500 is a great bulletproof all-purpose thrasher, and can be bought brand new for less than one of these 'ZX2Rs' will go for.

I applaud your sensible fiscal approach.

(By the way - you could probably buy my '99 GSX-R750 for about the same amount that you could get for your Hyosung.)

The best rider in the world on a GPX250 wouldn't come close to a good club racer on an "old poked" ZXR/CBR250 (mc22). At the last PMCC round I managed 7th out of 24 on my bog standard road bike 1990 CBR250RR against mostly SV650's in F3. I'd like to see a GPX do better than 20th out of 24.

I don't think just because it looks racey with 17" rear instead if 16", it doesn't automatically mean it think it's fast. I think Hyosung proved that.
It's a good looking bike (if you're into anorexic bikes) that does well. that's all.

Horses for courses people, 250 market is shite, but theres nothing we can do about it. And comparing a 250 parralell twin designed for learners to a high revving inline four 250 or a filthy ninga ninga isn't really acheiving anything now is it? Its like comparing a gn to a Kawasaki H2A, sure they look kinda similar (not really but you get my point), but the bikes are completely different...

Personally i like the new GPX. Althought the hyobag does look better

If you already been riding a 250 for a while and still on learners or restricted, wouldn't an upgrade be going to a RGV, RS or NSR. Something a little more sports like?

As I see it, the newbies are going to look at this and go "$7k for a Kawasaki, $7.4k for a Hyosung ... who the fuck are Hyosung?" and that'll be that. Of course there are other factors to consider - like what the bike shop is like, whether or not you can fit on the Hyosung (which is kinda big for a noobs bike, let's face it). You also have to wonder what happens when someone starts searching for threads on exploded Hyosungs vs exploded GPX250's.

I think what Kwaka have done is extremely smart, to be honest.

How many times are you going to plaster that all over KB? You seriously have it in for my bike or something...
