How can you say it is revenue collecting when the new law changes will lower the fines being handed out?
Demerit points will be introduced for all drivers who are caught running a red light or stop sign, or not wearing a seatbelt.
They will also increase for speeding offences, while fines will be cut - in some cases by almost half.
If ya dont speed, and you follow the road laws then it wont affect you!

You might want to break that to the racing fraternity.

Hitting things hurts, hitting things at speed hurts more (and possibly kills) but speed is fine (note the pun).

Actually - thinking about it I think it's the rapid transfer of kinetic energy that kills. Couldn't they just outlaw that?

I see your point there, and agree that speed on the racetrack is fine, as it is a controlled situation, and most riders that are on the racetrack are trained and experienced....but on the roads it is not called for!

If you are one of the ones that is pissed off by the law change then I have absolutely no sympathy for you, and you are better off not being on the road!

    Speed Kills, End of story!
So i guess you are going to thank the officer when you do get a ticket overtaking someone doing just under 100 ks, because they will ticket you. You cant stick to the speed limit to overtake if you want to survive
They say they are targeting boy racers well what a crock of shit, if they wanted to do that they would do the same with a car license that they do with bikes, restrict the size of the motor they can drive
Why dont they want radar detectors because they dont want an even playing field........ Helen must be sorting her reitement fund

as it happens I went down to Timaru and back again yesterday. I passed vehicles on the way and never went over 115 km/h. Heck if i get pulled over for passing at 115 then so be it...If the cops are gonna pull someone over then I think they would go more so after people doing 130+ rather than someone doing 115 in a passing manouvere.

Anyway, it does not matter what I say in this forum after all, cos some one is always gonna frikkin say I am wrong...probably someone who has shit loads of speeding tickets...

But it doesn't give a date, as of right now, i'm pretty sure they are still legal, unless someone is willing to link me towards some evidence suggesting otherwise.

I couldn't give a toss if they are banned or not, doesn't affect me either way, and I don't believe that it's encroaching on my personal freedoms either.

Na mate you have to work a lot harder than that to piss me off, i live next to cowboyz
All we are doing is expressing opinions and are never shared by everyone

I am just a little tired of the government dictating what we can and cant do and when they are busy telling us this they are robbing us blind with taxes ACC, levies, Speeding tickets, rates etc etc
I dont speed a lot but am known to cruise around 110 to 120 ks because i like to be just a little faster than the traffic. I personaly dont see this being a problem even though i am breaking the law. If i get caught i pay the fine without bitching But I think they are blanket targeting everyone in NZ instead of the problem areas which is IMO Exsessive speed and boy racers
Whatever happened to the government working for us, they never asked us what we wanted to do about the problems we face on the road ?

hello!!!!! there will be more tickets handed out if people don't have radar detectors, lower the $ value but increase the productivity, simply a great marketing effect really!!!!!!!!!!!! less $ for one person but more from the whole country (see his smile)

(look out back pockets, and licences)

Yeh, what bullshit that "speed kills" line is!

Today another old prick was going on about motorcyclists doing wheelies down the road with no safety gear on.

I asked him how many other motorists were on the road or about.

    There were none!

The biker was in control and didn't fall off or bother anyone else!

The old prick was watching from the golf course!

I told him the biker was just as safe or safer than he is on four wheels and that "He" should just mind his own freeking business!

Happy New Year everybody. Cheers John.
