Hence the tyre is not getting hot enough when I am out playing like I was on Sunday. My tyres were notably colder than Wasps after a good fanging. So I will drop them to 36, as MSTRS and others have been telling me for years and see how that goes. The harder centre of the tyre has cold tear for sure. The softer compound sides have noticeable wear on the edges of the tread. Again I think more heat would help this. The tread is deep and wide and that would allow cold tear to damage the tyre easily.

I have set the rear shock up for my riding and lifted it 18-20 mm. I had the same but worse problems with the Pilot roads a few years ago. But a lot worse. They literally fell to bits. Big lumps fell out.

Still I got this tyre for a very good price so I will wear it out and maybe go back to the pilot Power. I liked the one I have just taken off. Very nice tyre and it felt great to fang it on that Pilot power. Mind you the PR2 felt good yesterday and Rob gave his a harder time than I gave mine and it ran really well but did show scalloping on the softer areas when we got back here.

What are your thoughts Rob? Am I just a wimp and need to go harder? Maybe I should ride it like I stole it .....

Or we could all slow down or back the gas off a bit. ....................

    or not
Yep yr a wimp and you need to go harder. But.........

I have been running 36psi on this tyre for some time and i seems to going really well. When i was at manfield i was power sliding out of Higgens and this was probably due to the very hot conditions on the day and also due to all the right hand corners. So in hindsight the tyre presure should of been a bit higher. I spent quite a bit of time on getting the suspension setup better so that it handles well and also dosnt cook the tyre. Remember if the suspension is to hard then the trye will do it for you.

It really did look very unloved. Specially as it was next to the R1 that the whole crowd wanted to look at. Gixxer 4 ever

By the 25th of May it will likely have been handed over to a new owner. And I hope they get as much fun out of it as I have done. It's been a bloody good little bike, and it'll be sad to see it go. But times they are a changing, as Bob Dylan said. Need the money for elsewhere.

I won't be off bikes for too long though, hopefully. We will see how I go when I get back.

Cool, this sounds good. So when can we ride with you again Tony? Just for research purposes you understand...........

Oh by the way Rob....... The next time you pass me going up a hill please use all your power. I might be able to wing the power on and chase you rather than wait for you to get outa the way.........

Boy, I am real glad that our yunguns aren't so susceptible to testosterone filled, peer pressure rides...Pat takes his racing to the track, and Zac, well whenever I ride with him he is really sensible...
I reckon its a good thing that they are not easily influenced by the old greybeards talk of fanging it on the road!

Yea but they know shit when they read it........... I don't see any "peer pressure" here. Everyone rides the way they want to ride. If anyone crashes then it is their responsibility. I didn't see anything that was dangerous or too fast yesterday. We are discussing tyre pressure and wear pattens. Some bravado and some banter

Hey, G4E, I shoulda put some smilies in there, I was just taking the mickey.
I'm happy for my boy, my man and myself to ride with the HB crowd anytime, cos, just as you said, there is no peer pressure. Just support, encouragement, tips, and loads of fun and laughs...and a bit of BS at the end of the ride.
HB Kbers are the best there are!!

Was there some sort of biker rally in the Bay on Sunday? Heaps of bikes heading your way on the Napier/Taupo and about 30-odd at the Tarawera store mid morning?

Not that I'm aware of, but we did have our usual stunning weather, fantastic roads and awesome people. Maybe one of our visitors has been bragging about how great this little corner of the world is.
Next time you are here, you must call on us, rather than the incognito visit you made this weekend just gone.....

Not sure but by the time we got to BP Bayview there must of been 30- 40 odd bikes parked
