    "Platform" boots-who would be interested?

Just throwing a concept out to you lot see what you think.
A few riders ive spoken to have issues with being too darn short for your average mid range to large bike.
Lowering the bike is always a less that perfect solution but one forced on riders by neccessity.
The other option is to get the soles of the boots built up to to compensate. Again not ideal because the boot thickness means cotrols need to be adjusted a fair bit.
BUT--what if boots were available with say 25mm thick soles
The EXTERNAL size always size 8 so no reaching back and forwards for gears. The sole heavily braced so a person with size 5 feet could have a packer fitted and still change gear normally
There were sloped cutouts in the 25mm soles of both boots to line up with gear shifts /pegs and reear brake lever. -they would only be on the insid 30mm of the sole so visually noone would notice.

I think it could work but wonder how many would be interested?

There's an excellent shoe repair store in Mt Victoria, Wellington. The most obliging chap who owns this elevated Mrs H's Stylmartins by about 20mm.

The *trick* to building up soles, as we have learned, is not to make the instep gap too small, or the boot will grab the foot peg like a clothes-peg. Platform soles will also require shift and brake levers to be set higher so that the boot can slide easily beneath.

Only if they come with tassles attached......

Apparently all new gear I acquire must have tassles or flashy bits

no mate Im thinking Flat sole like a Sidi
    20-25mm thick
then on the inside edge of the sole --where the gear shift and brake lever sit would be cutouts back to normal sole thickness- The front/back edges of the cutouts would be sloped so the foot isnt "locked in place and the material would be a hard plastic
where the heel ends there would be a semi circular trough for the pegs
No need to reposition gear lever or brake lever
    -------------------
The size 8 bit is so theres no need to constantly shift a smaller foot back n forwards -basicly a high tech version of stuffing paper in the toe of a boot
The braced sole would allow for normal shifting.

Size 8 ? That's no good. Alright for folk with little tiny feet, but size 8 won't fit me , even if it is XXX wide (which they need to be )
