    Scarey shit

Stopped at the side of the road just out of Peoroa tonight was a 2006 GN250. The poor sod had just bought the beast.
The bike felt"funny" to ride from the second he hopped on but thought that was just GN's for ya.
He felt a rock hit his kneecap fairly hard so he stopped for a looksee.
At that point I happened to be rolling past in the ol van
Turns out the only think holding the front wheel in was half a thread on the axle nut.
Yup--the axle lockbolt was gone. The splitpin for the axle nut-Gone.
another half turn on that axle bolt and I shudder to think what mighta happened.
Chain adjuster bolt used as a axle lock bolt and a pallet nail used as a temp splitpin had the plot back on the road

So I take that this was one of the Chinese GN's?

But if so, surely the shop that sold it should have checked it over??

May the bridges I burn light the way.

There has to be (or should be) some massive lawsuits arising out of the dangerous quality in some of this Chinese crap. Isn't that what happened with the Warehouse's pushbikes a few years back?

Given I found the guy at 6.30 sunday I'd say it was a tard me purchace.
"someone" clearly had changed a tyre or something and forgotten to tighten things back up.

Hats off to you. Not many people would stop in today's times, in general.

I know I always stopped if I saw someone on the side of the road while driving trucks, especially if it was getting close to losing the light time of day...

I once had a scary night like this... Lol was in a rush to tighten chain then head into town, after 30kms of motorway and then city riding I was like FCUK I didn't tighten the nut! Pulled over and surely enough the nut was gone and the rear axle bolt slowly workin it's way out. Made my way to a mates at 15kph to find a replacement nut lol. Double check every time now !

Good on you for helping the guy out! +1 from me.

This is a bit of a reminder to everyone, that if they purchase 2nd hand bikes, check them over before riding off!

    Well done, Frosty...
