But if so, surely the shop that sold it should have checked it over??
A certain shop forgot to put in one of my rear axle spacers, and after getting home and hearing weird noises out of the front brakes, I investigated further and found that the front axle nut was done up less-than-finger-tight. In fact, it was almost about to fall off.

Stopping to help 'broken-down' bikers is what we do. What I am impressed with, is the rider actually stopped. How many of us would, if we felt 'a stone' hit a knee??
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

    Nice one Tony. On ya!

And don't feel bad about getting around on a 500E. My dad had one when I was 14 and I got to ride it a few times. Great fun back then. Of course it was only a couple of years old then...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

2006 GN?? He would have been fine. If the front wheel had fallen off, he could have put it up on the back and ridden home like that......

What he said. I'd be gutted to think than anyone here WOULDN'T stop for a broken down bike in the countryside.
I think it was actually the guys total "newbeeism" that saved him.
    It was his first bike
