I've got three more youfs, if anyone is interested.
One's 18, about to start studenting. That's about all I know about him, as he is about as communicative as a piece of spaghetti (looks similar too).
Second one is Skidmark's twin brother, nearly 21, unemployed, sans licence, not quite housebroken, but not too scary to look at. Knows everything.
Number three is 24, hairyish, still studenting (after 6 years already!), capable in the butchery, chatty, friendly, and semi-trained. Knows everything (but it's a different 'everything', because he and Number 2 can never agree).

They come with three electric guitars, a keyboard, three stereos, assorted computers (5? 7? :spudwhat, and their own furnishings.

    All offers considered.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Sometimes, Mark, the gods do not include a 'good' option in the list that they present to us. All you can do is choose the 'least bad' option.

Recognising that fact is part of growing up.

Your list of options appear to be

    • Homelessness, jobless, broke in Auckland . (Probably, Mt Eden before long, because you'll be forced to steal to survive at all)
    • Home and job in Tauranga .

Which seems the least bad to you? I know which anybody but an outright fool would choose.

You're an idiot. Don't force us to recognise you as a fool also.

We'll come visit you in Tauranga. It's better than prison which is where you'll end up shortly, otherwise. .

Perhaps there is a belief that exorcising the *barking-mad, braindead, irresponsible idiot child* within is cathartic?
Why is it the wise are so often ignorant of the fact they were blessed with intelligence merely by chance?

I'll admit, I'm not particularily empathetic when it comes to Mark, but that's only because I believe that he will need to learn to face these problems himself.

Deriding him in the most anal retentive manner possible solves nothing. Perhaps it is you who needs the cathartic.

Mark, my mother is dying! She lives in Thames, I live in Warkworth. I have had to reconcille the fact that I live so far away. My job is here, my home is here as are my husband and child. I ring her every night to check on how she is doing, and visit when I can. It is not rocket science!

He really needs to learn the hard way guys and I think that's the approach his parents are taking at the moment and if mates bail him out I think it defeats the purpose.

He'll be back to square one after the whole experience, even if he decides to do it. I think the key is for people on here to stop helping him, giving him things on the silver platter.

Let him figure out what he wants in life and what he needs to do to get there. Since he hasn't learnt from so much advice and help offered to him from KB in the past.

    PONDER.
