"no sorry you can only put ur bike on rego when it runs out"

So basicly I have paid for 8 months rego and cant use it.

Can anyone tell me why I should pay for rego and then not be allowed to use it when I want?

    In my books its stealing.

Way ahead of ya. Been doing that since I got my RG. After I wrecked my old CBR and it was off the road for, coincidentally, 8 months, I thought it would be best too. You pay a bit extra over a year, but with my crash record and my VFR's unreliability it's for the best.

How long have you been into bikes and you haven't realised this

They are not even that nice about it, they charge you 10% on top of the premium to pay it monthly. You will never win with insurance companies!

Putting to one side the iniquities of LTSA, are *you* OK?

I hope you are not dead or anything.

    Stealing - nope!

If fairness you DO have what you paid for - you have the right to ride that bike on the road for the next 12 months. The fact that you binned is your fault - not theirs so why should they give you a refund.

You wouldn't expect a refund if you went on holiday for three months, or if you tripped and had your leg in a cast and couldn't ride (wouldn't wish that on ya BTW).

So its just a matter of sucking it up - getting your bike back on the road and enjoying it.

I hope that you are all 100% and not hurt in your bin.

No you cant, cancelling is the same as de-reg

if they want continuous licencing system then there should be option to put on hold at any time you are not using the vehicle. there are plenty of reasons to put a vehicle on hold. if it is not being used on the road then why pay for it to be on the road?

    No you're wrong.

I payed 12 months worth of road tax, entitling me to 12 months of road use with my bike. They should not be allowed to take that away from me.

I understand 3 months min put on hold, thats ok. But it should be able to pause your rego.

Don't even get me started on having to pay rego per car/bike/whatever. You should pay a one off yearly fee......

    Nope - Im right

You paid 12 months worth of road tax, entitling you to 12 months of road use with that bike (between 2 dates).

They haven't taken it away from you - if your bike was working you could use it tonight.

You *should* however be able to transfer it to another bike IMHO - vote me for PM and I will make it so.

nah you're wrong, you should be able to use it when you want to, not when they tell you to, its you who is paying for it, not them.

Interestingly enough, in relation to insurance, I had my WRX stolen (bought it 3 weeks earlier for 12.5k at an auction) had paid a month's premium and obviously when I was paid out it was minus the remainder of the premium (bout a grand).

Then there was agreed value shenanigans as well. (Paid out 2.5k less than what I had asked it to be insured for).

Yep, still pretty bitter about that. Hopefully Kiwibike are a bit better =/
