Yip, Im definatly looking forward to going on the ride, thats for sure.

Dave is still without wheels. I think (and dont quote me on this but) he flies up to Hamilton on Tuesday for some court date to do with the RS250. So hopefully he will get plenty of cash from that and obviously be back on 2 wheels sometime in the next month.

Yeah could be an issue given that in the US so many other models were called Katana, there must be someone making a part for it.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

Yeah they get pretty dam tempting don't they, I am going to stay out of the discussion except to say be really sure if you hang up the helmet, been there done it, knew for years I was missing something.

I am sure the rest will work itself out, just don't stress out too much, in the end it wont do you any good at all (but you know that).

There are a few reasonable larger bikes out there for less than 2k if you are willing to get your hands dirty now and then and put up with not having the flashiest machine on the block, look at my thing for example, and how much will the NZ get you back?

Na the Napoleon mirror is a generic mirror that fits the bike really well. Better than the original ones IMO.

My Dad has them on his Laverda. I used to have them on my Kat until I broke them

I have a right hand one. The left is now proving difficult. Its not helped by the fact that Budget Motorcycle Spares are the only place I seem to be able to get them from and they couldnt produce good service to save their lives.

Ahh well. I'm a patient guy. I can wait.

The bike will be re-painted with the colours that its in now. Just with all the dents and cracks taken out of the panels and fairing etc.

I would like to get the frame done aswell, but at this stage I dont think its worth it.

Odd they have in my experience very good at getting items, like anywhere you do need to check in with them occasionally if you have a part on order but in most cases they are pretty good.

Mate I know it seems like extra work, but if you get it all done at once then you wont be kicking yourself say dam I wished I had painted the frame, not sure I would go so far as to paint the motor though.

Indeed Chris! But that is all going to change on the 8th when the mainland people will teach you to knee-down at levels. Provided you don't crash your bike at the "Have a go day" this weekend

Hope you guys have a good day out there. Might pop by and have a look. Doubt I'll go out there to take my bike on the track though.

Yeah Craig, I'm the 2nd coming of christ - the true motorcycling god (and slightly pissed, I blame ethanol). At least the 250 isn't going to flip out and bite my head off because of a bit of hail... or I was just too inexperienced at that time to appreciate what danger I was in. Truth be told - to this day I still don't know how bad it actually was since I haven't had the opportunity to ride in hail again.

However, emperical evidence show I didn't go too fast for the conditions. And I certainly didn't make any hazardous overtakes or break the speed limit for that matter.

The motor is fine. It just needs the gold engine cover replaced with a silver one. Or all the silver ones replaced with gold ones. I imagine the first option would be the cheapest though.

    Before or after the NOS.

Bad luck, hope your bike is up and going soon.

We that is SDU and I turned around at Little River as SDU did not want to ride in those hills at night with a few others.
We went to the Wheatsheaf and then went back over the Pass to go home and got t follow the R1 and R6 most of the way home.

I thought that it would have you guys guessing.
You did see us when you and us, fueled up at Dallington BP before the ride and then at the start of the ride from Burger King, my partner talked to your partner there. (short redhead)

Yeah saw you at BP and wondered if you were going on same ride, that was quickly answered when you pulled in to BK (slightly later than us due to red light on Fitzgereld ave I believe) Yes we remember SDU, I had a short chat to her as well...
