$150 an hour, although he did only charge for 3 hours. Got an estimated 4 hours left on it yet. Fortunately, him being fully booked for 2 months gives me time to save.

I had a 5 minute break when he finished the outline, before the shading. Just enough time to get a drink.

    $150/HOUR!!!
what the fuck is he tattooing you with, liquid gold mixed with virgin blood?!

...i'm sorry. i thought my friend was kidding when he said illicit charges more than $100 an hour and takes forever to do them..the pic included is my latest piece, its really, really well done and it cost me $140 so far and took the guy 40mins. i've worked in a tattoo parlour before and it bothers me immensly how some tattooists out there are ripping people off..

That works out to $210 an hour. Who's getting ripped off now?

So what? I wanted someone that I trusted, and knew would look after me for my first piece of work. He explained everything to me in complete laymens terms, he managed to turn a bunch of rambling, incoherent ideas and keywords into something that I will be proud to wear. Adam has proved to be an absolute stand-up guy. I'd rather pay extra for quality if I have to look at it every day for the rest of my life.

    Each to their own.

    Nice Ink Hubba.

Got my first one, after pondering designs for lots of years. Finally decided on one.

Done by Gill at Tattoo City Wellington

4.5 hours - one sitting - couple of ciggies breaks for Gill - Only started to burn in the last 20 minutes or so.

Got to go back at some stage for him to complete the background.

I put Bepanthen on it once in the morning, once at lunchtime, and again in the evening. Patted dry after showering not rubbed dry. No scabs at all..

    Fuck it. Here's the story.

I was diagnosed as clinically depressed 6 years ago. Since then i've battled with it every day of my life. Suicide attempts, weeks where I can't even get out of bed, you name it, i've been through it. Lost 2 great mates to suicide as well.

Anywho. To me, the Phoenix represents my struggle. Rising from the ashes, means that tomorrow can always be a better day, and no matter how deep and dark I feel, I will get better soon. Today is not the end of the world. The bird aspect of it also represents freedom of the soul. It is also looking forward, towards the future.

The star that it is carrying up with it represents 5 things that have got me through some tough times.

    Friends.
    Family.
    Love.
    Honour.
    Integrity.

The star is supposed to look deformed, as though it has been dragged through hell and back (just as I have been), and that effect will come with the shading.

Sappy, I know, but it means a lot to me, and I am utterly stoked with how it turned out.

Sounds like you gave your art work a lot of thought. IMHO it means more than just a picture of a wall,
Attached is the one I got in remembrance of my father, cross of St Brynach, welsh monk with some tribal stuff I modified to set it off.
