and that is what the VTR is... an all rounder... and that is why many vtr owners are more than happy with them... its not classed as a sports bike with ultimate power... its a sports tourer. Means you can have a bit of play on the track, its comfortable enough to tour on, has enough power to load up and have a pillion no problem...

You should keep that in mind when buying any bike, what do you want it for, is comfortable to ride (for the length of time you will be riding it) blah blah blah...

116 hp for the 03 04 SV vs 125 hp for the TL according to the same source.

Although they bumped the compression ratio up a bit from 11.3:1 to 11.6:1 from 06 SV1000.

and yeh, i agree with the all-rounder vtr thing, missus never complained about the seat (all complaints were directed at no grab rail and my tendency to grab fistfulls of throttle...), but i just found her too uncomfortable (the bike!), thats a fair bit of a stretch over the tank for someone my size.

Personally I think the TL's are overpriced for 10 year old bikes (and lets face it they should have been ridden hard during that term). VTR will offer better 'value'.

At $12500 - around 3k more than a good clean TL a NEW SV1000 is a bargain - I have a 2003 Suzuki brochure introducing these on the market as great value at $15995. And they have improved since 03 and dropped $3500!

    Food for thought.

Weird - no offense to the TL and its owners but the SV is the better of the two (other than outright power). The TL does have some SERIOUS street cred though - no need to walk funny - if you own one its presumed you'll need a wheelbarrow for ya balls!

Personally purely style wise I prefer the look of the rounder TL (and early SV650's). Just a personal thing.

Fair call, personally the SV isnt for me,ive tried but it just doesnt do it for me,i have a mate with one, tasty mods etc and swap we have but i just dont get it.Ive spent years and $ mucking around with my old S and compared to later model stuff its shite but still the most fun ive ever had on 2 wheels.Although in saying that theres a member on KB with an SV i would glady make room for in my garage.

I hope you know the vtr and vfr are different engines.....lol..cause if you cant get it up on a vtr then i agree you shouldnt ride one.....the vtr deserves more respect than that.

Clearly you didn't, or you wouldn't have bothered replying to it either. Your reply was 18 months after the original question, what's the point in dredging the thread up from the depths of the dead to say "I didn't read it but get the TLS"? Bit late for that, but hey, someone might still care.

just commenting that the VTR's have a shit load of torque and lifting the wheel is done with ease...and i have found the power from idle is just fine.....you just need to (as with any bike) repsect the gear your in for the revs your pulling......i'll admit mine sounds like a mower running over a rock if i accelerate from 40-50km/h in 5th or 6th but thats typical of a vtr....but any more than 1/4-1/2 or so on the throttle in 1st 2nd 3rd and its pointing the wheel to the sky......but then every person to thier own....
