OK if the accomodation has been sorted out, disregard this:
You have 4 Choices:
1. You could try and get hold of Jonny Rotten, he's a KBer who has recently moved up North and lives on the road leading up to the Cape. He may have a big enough lawn to fit you all on....
2. Ninety Mile Top Ten - This is who I use when we conduct the Northern Exposure Tour. Nice and handy to Kaitaia - only 20min North of Kaitaia and has cabins starting from $65. Share this with 4 others and you get a cheap place to stay and it sure bets a wet tent. Online Bookings. Resturant/Bar/Showers/Toilets. Have been broken-in to withstand Bikers.
3. Houhora Heads Camping Grounds - (Also known as Wagener Park) Have cabins and tent sites not sure how much. Similar as Top Ten but not as nice. Showers/Toilets. Only 1 hours ride to the Cape from here.
4. Waitiki Landing Campgrounds - Not sure how good they are, never stayed. Basic Cabins/Backpackers. Petrol Station (when they have got any petrol - see below warning) /Basic Shop/Showers/Toilet. Only 25kms to the Cape from here. Have Bar/Resturant. Best place to stop for Breakfast before heading up the last 20kms of gravel to the top!
IMPORTANT TIP!
Please make sure Waitiki Landing has petrol in stock as this service station sometimes runs out of petrol! Phone ahead on the day to be sure. Next petrol station is back in Pukenui (Houhora) which is 100kms away. If in doubt fill up at Pukenui - If there is a support wagon, extra fuel wouldnt be a bad idea.....
Any other questions just ask - I know the Far North well (I come from up there aye!)
You never know, I may tag along for a ride - see what happens.

Thanks QKCHK, much appreciated information.
Next question, does anyone have a number for Johnny Rotten?
Righty-o.
Round 3 in the 'Find other people crappy bikes' series.
Pic 1. 3/4 Sized 80cc Scooter. I'm looking at you crashe. $850.
Pic 2. Honda 110cc Mini-Chopper. Fireball. $900 ono. Honda reliability, insane-soon-to-be road kill styling. Perfect.
Pic 3. AC50 "Maverick". Already Registered, no WOF necessary. $360.
Pic 4. 49cc Scooter. Completely inappropriate. Also, it's blatantly awesome. $220.
Pic 5. I know it;s a little above the $1000, but how sweet is this?
Come on people, we need some more takers.

Mean! What a cool mini sport bike!
Woah, love the ape hangers and retro stylin!![]()
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."
Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.
I would have bought #5 if I still had a cage, put it in the boot so I can always have two wheels to ride!
I know, I'm crazy, but I'm coo-coo that way![]()

Well. I gone and done it now.
Left at 6.30am today to New Plymouth, to pick up the new beastie. Arrived at about 11.30am in New Plymouth. Tried to kickstart the bike, but no no avail, ah well. didn't matter anyway. Handed over the $300, and loaded it on the Trailer, secured with GiJoe's "Mega-Anime-Dragonball Z-Epilepsy-Orange-Tie-Downs" (TM).
Decided the drive back was a bit boring, so we picked up a hitchhiker. Was full of cool old stories, we picked him up from just outside New Plymouth, and his final destination, was two streets over from my house. Weird coincidence.
Got back all good, pushed the bike up the drive, put in sme fresh fuel, and gave it a kick. and another kick, and another, it rolled over, made a few spluttering and farting noises, and wouldn't idle. Spotted an oil leak from one of the exhaust seals. Starts all good, just doesn't stay there.
Will clean out the carby (if I can find where it is) and the fuel tap tomorrow.
Anyone wanna get their hands dirty/offer advice/abuse?
Also, discovered that if you turn on the indicators, the two diagonal bulbs flash, so the left front, and right rear! Awesome! Noone knows where i'm going, i'll fit right into Auckland traffic. Will have a look at the wiring tomorrow.
Anyone else got their bike yet? And I need a name for it.
Maybe "Blue Thunder"!

also it is a recommendation to carry a first aid kit and a puncture repair kit as we will be on gravel roads.
COST: There will be an entry cost to this event this is yet to be decided on the amount and all funds go into the kitty to be donated, also at this stage we anticipate some costs for food (beers and BBQ) and accommodation for both nights or if there is a friendly biker out there that doesnt mind letting us sleep on your lawn or paddock for a night drop me a line.
SWEEP VAN/TRUCK: We need a volunteer/s to drive behind as a safety car and a sweep vehicle. WE CAN NOT RIDE UNLESS WE HAVE ONE this is also for safety reasons. So drop me a PM if you can provide your service.
